Do you think it's time we allow dialects again? I just can't stand having Cantonese shows dubbed in Mandarin in the cinema. You just don't hear all the jokes and vulgarities and you know what. You also don't get to hear the real voices and if there is a Hong Kong chio bu (or leng nui in cantonese), I would very much love to hear her REAL voice.

i dun really like how the hongkee speak, they are damn proud of their accent. not aware how sucky their mandarin is.

surprised to note, lately, that in china mandarin is only spoken by less 50% of the population and dialects are still well ingrained at homes.
Are Singaporeans better than the mainland chinese in this aspect of spoken mandarin? -

It is okay to be proud of ones native language. With China's ascend, favour for Mandarin will naturally comes with it and that's what HKGer themselve are aware of. Sucky mandarin ? I think its okay, at least , they tried
