Thanks for the info because i'm thinking of studying overseas and if i like it there i might get a PR to work there or something for a few years before coming back.Originally posted by strikefreedom:There no problem holding Singapore citizenship and a PR from another country. As for dual citizenship i am not sure though![]()

or put a A$100k bonds for 1 years or agreed to go to other states that need ur expertiseOriginally posted by ditzy:The rules for PR in australia were made more stringent as of last april. You need to gain another 5 more points, by having at least 2-3 more years of work experience.
You can gain australian PR and singapore citizenship at the same time, but if you wish to take up australian citizenship, your singapore one has to go. Applies the other way around as well.
You can. Alternatively go marry a local there loh, sure can get PR status..Originally posted by hiphop2009:i tink can larh, spore citizenship n PR in other country.......check with the immigration authorities??

The "in" industry in Australia now is mining. Big bucks to be made. Mostly site work that involves working and living there. They pay at least 15K on top of your annual salary for site work due to the dangers and of course no one really wants to do it.Originally posted by charlize:I think they need tradesmen like plumbers, mechanics etc.
People with ITE certs might actually stand a chance for PRship.
You can never get that kind of salary in Singapore cleaning food court tables.Originally posted by ditzy:The "in" industry in Australia now is mining. Big bucks to be made. go oversea to study, find a job, get your citizenship and drop singapore citizenship.
then come back to work in singapore (become foreign talent) then get singapore PR
you will be better off that way.
Man, you make it sound really easy. If the person who wishes to renounce is a female then its ok. But if the person is a male, it will be slightly more complicated then that.
If he is Singapore-Born and have not discharged his NS liabilities then he is screwed as he cannot renounce his Citizenship based on the Singapore Constitution. But if he was born overseas and acquired Singapore Citizenship due to descent but have not discharged his NS liabilities then is ok as the government will automatically "cancel" him and he will cease to be a citizen of Singapore unless he takes the OATH at the age of 21. Even so, he maybe arrested on arrival as he has commited an offence under the Enlistment Act thus he is liable in court.
By the way, if a person who renounced his/her Singapore Citizenship legally might not get the PR status later on as the government would have a record of that particular person and they don't really tolerate "quitters" thus that person is really gambling and i would advise that person who managed to give up his/her Singapore Citizenship to forget Singapore and move on as the world we live in is a big place and there are so many other countries that are much better than Singapore.
Same as Canada. Had a army mate who migrated over there and got his Canadian citizenship, went in with his ITC in IT and good English grades at O-level.Originally posted by charlize:I think they need tradesmen like plumbers, mechanics etc.
