I still feel that he should make way for younger ministers and stop wasting taxpayers money on new positions just to accommodate him. His insistence in staying in the election can only be portrayed as the inability to let go of the power.
It is just like Prince Charles vs Queen Elizabeth II.
The Queen seem to live forever.
The present PM have already so many secretary and ministers in assisting him that the Budget is solely built for paying a bunch of people that dun generate economic value or capital.
I sincerely hope that the PM can stand as a leader and act as a leader without any shadow behind him.
Let him fight his own battle with his chosen men.
Any interference from any BIG M would spoil the image of the PM in dealing the matters as a LEADER. -
Likening LKY to QE2 is like comparing apples with oranges. The latter is not obliged to abdicate and hand the throne to Charles (or William), whereas LKY, when he handed over the Premiership to GCT in 1990, would be expected to fade quietly away into the shadows. lol......do u noe dat he is a "guide" to other ministers in the parliment?....dat is y he is a "minister mentor".........a mentor to other minister.......probably when other ministers hav prob dey will go consult him.........he is experienced......probably explains y dat he is useful in the parliment n wans to continue contributing......when he cant contribute n yet wans to remain in parliment, den u call dat unwillingly to let go of power.......

Lee kuan yew is a good man ok? you never study history meh? You look wad he did for our economy and all lah. He is patriotic too, cried in front of the TV when Malaysia fen shou with us. Old so what? Doesnt mean you old cannot work anymore rite. Den all the people who are old should be retrenched lah

Without him I think you'll still be fishing in a kampong. He maybe old but definitely his still has great value to the nation. It's always funny to see people talking about those that had done great credit for the country without the gratitude and appreciation at least a simple sense of respect.
Frankly I salute him for making this tiny island into the Singapore the way we are today, if not we're still part of the Malaysia kampong. -
if it isn't for him, all of us will be probably be plodding fields now, and living under a communist government. he layed the foundation for us the new generation, and all we do is complain. People may not like his decisions in the past, but hey, it turned out to be right most of the times.

For once, PAP is good when LKY is present. Other than that, all the policies that the other PMs has started does not really attract me.

if there ever is a father of singapore, no one's more befitting of that tittle than our LKY. while it is true that our country has progressed tremendously under his charge, one can't help but wonder if we would have been very much worse off without him. look at hong kong, taiwan and korea, without LKY we might have ended up like these countries, not ncessarily worse off, just different. if we look around, where there is a community of hardworking, enterprising individuals, such as penang, there would be relative prosperity even without a supposed legendary leader.
in any case, i certainly hope that there can be grace on our MM's part to extend his services to the nation with perhaps a token allowance rather than a full salary, like a community service. after all, his government has in recent years retired many senior officers even before they touched 60. these people are encouraged to play an active role in community through volunteer work. perhaps leading by example would be apt?
