Isn't it funny, when the papers are reporting improving unemployment rates but bread and butter issues are still our main concerns for the coming GE???
Who's telling lies? Papers, or millions of us in society? -
People are unable to see the actual problems caused by NKF or other wrong policies because the media are only reporting the "doctored" figures on unemployments to play down the problems.
The figures will see the real problems from more closed factories and neighbourhood shops, dropping COE prices, unemployed middle executives and new graduates, even with higher degrees, continuing weakening of property values (dropped 40% off peak) and some more credit card bankruptcies etc. -
Not true. Unemployment is down and all the unemployed I used to work with have found jobs, even I was surprised.
Why is bread and butter still an issue? Because the whiners made it one.
Bread and butter is really not the real issue, the real issue are the whiners and I can assure you that with better education, the number of whiners will dramatically reduce cos people will know how to think and will not be fooled anymore. -
Just how you define bread and butter issues. To some, unemployment is, but others don't feel so.

If bread and butter are not issues, then Singaporeans should become more willing to spend. Why don't you ask people who run SMEs of their opinion? They know better. They don't need to see figures published by the government.

based on ur assumption of singaporean should become more willing to spend, this is one the major reason why ppl landed in huge credit card debt simply becos they are too willing to spend especially during good economic period without thought of rainy day. -
Aiyo, got people who earn a lot but not willing to spend. I've got relatives who live in bungalows but give $4 red packets. Doesn't mean economy better, salary better means spend more. These 'no brainers' are the ones who are 'whining' about the reality that others bring forth, which the 'no brainers' have no answers that are clear except to ask more questions that even 'no brainers' have no answers. .
Can you accept any figures that have been offered in so many posts that you walked away from without even a further squeak ? .

If it's SME, the impact is not that huge. The thing is, it is an MNC. If IBM ever closes down one day, then you will know. For your info, IBM hires the most workers in the IT world, if not the world. You so sure that with education we will have less whiners? I think it will go the opposite way. Since they know how think, they will be thinking much more in-depth why the government implemented this policy, and if they find that the government is trying something funny with them, they will complaining again.

If you studied Singapore's history, you should have known. Some Singaporeans went to overseas for studies. They were influenced by the West. They want independence, not some colony of other great countries. -
