You see, Many people keep complaining about Casino and all.. But in fact they fail to realise that the govt is creating jobs AND middle-income families are NOT allow to enter the Casino..
They just focus on the negative side but fail to weigh it with the numerous positive points
There are other ways to generate revenue and provide jobs. The casino solution was simply the easy way out. And the decision was made DESPITE the massive negative feedback to the so-called public 'referendum', which the govt pointedly stated WOULD NOT change the outcome of the decision.
Lim Boon Heng has claimed that the proposed Integrated Resorts at Marina and Sentosa would create 10,000 jobs, a princely number. But he neglected to state HOW MANY would go to locals. On top of that, he also admitted:
"So, the debate should be about job creation for Singaporeans. The problem is - can we do all this without the casino?
That is the issue."
Evidently, his implications were that other options were open to the govt. So why werenÂ’t these options explored in detail?
One alternative solution is F1 racing, itself independent from otherwise ethical and moral implications. In an interview, MM LKY personally regretted not opening F1 racing in SG when he had the opportunity in the past, seeing as how it has now prospered in both Japan and Malaysia, going as far to admit that he may have been 'dim-witted' at that time.
The dearth of creativity in the govt, their inability to plan long-term and their failure to explore various options and seize goldmine opportunities has led to the stagnation of our economy and influx of foreigners claiming jobs (save the exceptional) that would otherwise have gone to locals; this in turn led to disillusioned Singaporeans seeking their trade elsewhere, finally settling down in adopted countries where they have discovered their niche, only to be labelled as 'QUITTERS' by our govt.
Our revenue drop from tourism despite increase in the number of visitor arrivals is only now being addressed after the govt, sensing a serious relapse in the service sector, are now attempting to re-train and review the hospitality standards in Singapore, once regarded as a cornerstone of our tourism trade. This reaction coming only now despite all the alarm bells ringing from piles of complaints highlighted by CASE and written complaints to the press from various tourists in the past 5~8 years.

And nag about how the govt is rich and never help the citizens, HELLO!! Where do you think the law about $5 for school fees come from? If the govt really don't want to help the people, Then the fees already expensive until enough to cover the 3k per JUNIOR teacher take
Like that singapore already blast back to the ice age
There is no advantage to removing subsidies from education. Since our govt has taken the stand that education is compulsory, then their actions must correspond to support their position.
Should this ‘subsidy law’ be taken as ‘generosity’ or simply action to back their words?
And just so you donÂ’t embarrass yourself further with sweeping remarks, only JUNIOR teachers with HONOURS grad take home >3000K per month. Many start off with 2.7K. For male teachers, they get an NS allowance supplement on top of their starting pay.

If govt don't spend millions on military, You think now you can use internet? You nag so much on forum and make yourself look smart?
Your sweeping and otherwise hollow remarks donÂ’t make you any smarter. For one, how does military spending relate to internet usage?

People complain about how our current generation spend way too much money than what they did last time, But now life is so fast-paced.. Hi-tech that its already nesscery(sp) to carry handphone around sinc payphones are becoming a rare sight.. Even though the constant changing is uncalled for
And also because they can't get it

let me think.. later then post when i recall
Your unusual ‘claims’ regarding high-tech vs high expenditure past and present seem to go in circles with no clear correlation or link, leading people to wonder whether ‘they can’t get it” or
‘YOU can’t get it’ .
