in sg which plc discriminates on nationality?Originally posted by lwflee:Yes, but descriminating on grounds of nationality is very common in today's modern world. The idea of nationhood is built upon that premise.
To discriminate agaisnt race, is however, a different matter. One has some say and may have some recourse towards altering one's nationality. You are stuck with your race.
Are you perhaps saying that I am ignorant? Or have i misunderstood you?Originally posted by skeujin:if his action is due to personal reasons. he pick one hell of a wrong time to display it.
ignorance is the root of all problems...
Hmmm...ALL plcs discriminate on grounds of nationality because it is the law. Generally, Non-singaporeans need a work permit to work in singapore.Originally posted by skeujin:in sg which plc discriminates on nationality?

Now, let's look at some public institutions. NUS, NTU make fopreigners pay more i believe. What about HDB then? I am quite sure there are restrictions on foreigners buying HDB flats.
Now perhaps I have not expressed myself clearly. I said that he is just taking a stand against somethign he disagrees with IE the cartoons.Originally posted by skeujin:im not sayg yr ignorant.

im sayg if he really did it outa persoanl resons during this period thn he is dam ignorant to the fact of wat he mite stir up.
Which is my point. Discrimination of grounds of nationality is common and it is what the whole premise of nationhood is built upon. It is not unheard of or taboo.Originally posted by skeujin:all those r laws passed to makes sure singaporeans have jobs and homes to stay in.
y foreigner pay more for education is cause fees for locals r subsidised by the govt. if u got to other countries its the same thing.
u can do yr personal boycott as long as its not in public view n does not create unrest.Originally posted by lwflee:Now perhaps I have not expressed myself clearly. I said that he is just taking a stand against somethign he disagrees with IE the cartoons.
As he can boycott danes, so can I proactively support danish goods. In both cases, we are taking a stand for something we believe in.

Well put. When the Talibans destroyed the ancient Buddhist statues in afghanistan, there was no uproar or a frenzy of violent reaction from the Buddhists. Why are the reactions by the muslims always violent and destructive?Originally posted by Salman:Have you ever put yourself in the shoes of Buddhists, Hindus and Christians feel what they felt for what Muslims do to them thru history and up till today?
Talk about sensitivity.
I have come across so much anti Christian, Jewish and Hindu literature by Muslims, and these are sold openly in Muslim circles and on the internet. There is this teaching among Muslims that Bible is full of porno and that the Bible is corrupt. In fact, that is the very foundation of Islam, otherwise the quran will fall apart because both books contradict each other.
I think Muslims ought to stop playing hypocrites about hurt feelings when they themselves are hurting others. Why do these people think they have the monopoly to question and criticise others? What is the logic? They think islam is superior? That others need to respect their religion and they don't need to respect other people's religion or human rights?
And you need to destroy the govt? What a joke!Originally posted by dragg:we shouldnt get ourselves embroiled in such issues.
Yes, he will probabaly tell me how the Danes hurt their feelings, then I will tell him how Muslims have done worst things to hurt other people's feelings and ask him why he didn't care and see what he says about that.Originally posted by Quincey:And vice-versa my friend.
That shop must be taken to task by the law. The owner is a bigot and blindly follows the actions of his overseas muslim brethens. He has no regards for the fact that we are a multi-racial, multi-religious society and must be made aware of this. He must be made an example of...... otherwise others like him may follow suit.Originally posted by AF2005:the shop commit an illegal action under the race law. Could be quite serious, as its a racial act against the danish people.
i mean we, singaporeans need not get ourselves embroiled in the danish issue.Originally posted by Salman:And you need to destroy the govt? What a joke!
I think we do need to get involve and stop all this bigotry. I will take note of this restaurant and have a chat with the owner on tolerance and racial harmony.
