Just wondering, do the americans have US soldiers to guard their embassies overseas?
A large proportion of those "level headed and peace loving muslims" may actually condone the murderous and violent actions of the fanatics. How many %? Only God knows.Originally posted by SilverPal:There are many that keep harping on the fact that there are merely a few thousand muslims conducting anti danish activities while there are a few million muslims who are not.
Yet these few million level headed and peace loving muslims are unable to put pressure on the few thousand who misrepresent their faith?

Am I a liar ?Originally posted by Salman:Notice that this Atobe guy is really a vicious liar.
He keeps insisting that I am villifying all Muslims when I clearly said that most Muslims peaceful people and I focused my criticism against extremists.
He's trying to implicate that I am anti Muslim.
I think he is a typical extemist taquiya liar. I've seen many of these on the net. Its stupid of him to display his tail so openly and think he can get away with it.
I won't go as far to call you a liar.Originally posted by Atobe:Am I a liar ?
From the various threads that you have posted - some of which is now locked - it clearly show the 'SLANT' that you have preferred to take in portraying Islam and Muslims in the most negative manner - without any effort on your part to stay neutral in your observation.
Try as you may, once your broad brush is placed on the canvas, the paint specks and strokes have been laid.
Clean up your act with any spirit that you still possess, and the stains remain evidence of your effort that you have placed.
Now, who is the liar ?

I have posted a few questions that were answered by non muslims. Can you and proton, in your capacity as a muslim answer the same questions?
1. Why can't the few million peaceful muslims stop the few thousand violent muslims from attacking and killing others?
2. Why attack catholic priests, rape indon chinese gals and sack american embassies when the danish newspaper was the one that published the offensive pictures?
3. What justification do the muslim protestors and terrorists have for taking human lives? How can they play God and decide who is to live and die?

This Atobe guy cannot defend his position and keeps accusing others of broad brushing. He can't defend so he attacks with lies.
He's a loser and a liar!

I apologise for wrongly assuming that you are a muslim.Originally posted by Atobe:Firstly, my apologies for not replying to those issues, but being presently on the road, I have barely managed to squeeze some time to respond to some of the more idiotic issues and have basically left out the more interesting ones to a period when time permit a more reasoned respone.
Firstly, what makes you think I am a Muslim ?
That conclusive statement based on speculation do not help in developing an open minded and enquiring mind.
Your first question was answered in some of my replies posted in similar threads that carried purposefully slanted views to derid Muslims in general and Islam in particular - by the now renown resident "no brainer" attempting to break out of his characteristic "one-liners" with more "no brainers statements"
Surely, you must have heard of the saying that "Power comes from the Barrel of the Gun" ?
Can billions of passive citizens prevent Mao Tse Tung unleashingthe thousand of fervent Red Guards in the Cultural Revolution in China ?
By your first question, the many reasonable Germans could have stopped the Nazi Germans from practicing their self-destructive ideology that led to WW-2 - yet, why was the larger German community remained paralysed by the Nazis ?
Similarly, why is the larger Iranian citizens unable to overcome their passivity to overthrow the few hundred hated Ruling Mullahs and the few thousand Revolutionary Guards ?
To your second and third question:
Is a religion and its larger faithful followers to be blamed for the action of a reckless few, who are bent on bringing despair and instability onto society and country ?
Throughout the history of Mankind, hapless and unarmed civilians have always been the target of opportunity, to put the system under pressure, to create a wider crack in an already stressed society.
Who was Hitler to decide that all Jews must be exterminated ?
Did the Japanese General think he was GOD, to decide to send his victorious Army to sack the city of Nanjing ?
Where was Truman's Christian moral principles when he decided to drop the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima, and the H-Bomb on Nagasaki - killing millions of innocent lives in the process, and leaving genetic scars to generations after ?
Who do the Israelis think they are, by treating their fellow-humans in the Palestine land as second class children of God - when even the Jewish Holy Book acknowledge the Arabs to be the brother of the Jews ?
Why are we - Singaporeans - so intolerant and narrow minded in our discussion on Islam and Muslim actions ?
Is this a reflection on the failure of Government Policies - beginning with its HDB residential quota system ?
Originally posted by SilverPal:Was there a "majority" of Germans who supported Adolf Hitler prior to WW-2, or were we misled by propaganda ?
I apologise for wrongly assuming that you are a muslim.
Perhaps using hitler's germany was a wrong anology as the majority of the german people actually supported hitler. Remember that hitler was a very outstanding orator who managed to woo his audiences and get himself voted in as chancillor.
Exactly, when the Cultural Revolution surged, will you betray your loved ones, or will you go against the militant and fanatical Red Guards ?
The same case for mao. His people believed that mao can bring them a better life and they truely believed in him.
Power comes in great numbers. When the majority believes in something, even the biggest guns and newest technology cannot stop them. The americans found that out the hard way in vietnam.
Are you stretching geography and news across continents and mixing events to fit your narrow views of Islam, Muslims and their Religious Leaders ?
The high profile clerics and mullahs have shown that they can stand against the biggest guns and media propaganda machines and speak out against various anti muslim actions by the west, how can they be unable to speak out against their own errand muslims who misrepresent their faith and give their God a bad name?
The respected muslim community leaders are very quick to condemn various degradatory actions against muslims and islam yet they do not speak out against the terrorists who use islam to conduct atrocities? We're not talking about freedom fighters who behead foreign invaders in their land. We're talking about those who destroy american embassies in response to danish insults. Those who kill priests for danish actions. Why do the mullahs and clerics not speak out against such actions? These embarassing behaviour are giving muslims a bad name. Conducting such senseless crimes in the name of their God is more insulting than various pictures of the prophets.
The answers are in the answers when you respond to those questions.
As for my second and third questions, you answered my questions with more questions. You liken your response with a: since others have done it before, I do not see why can't the muslims do it too. You justify errand behaviour with precedence set by other errand behaviour.
Whether the Acts of Terrorism is carried out by outlaws or by the State, Civilians have always ended up being the casualties of War - whatever the moral background or persuasions for the attack being carried out.
Just because the helpless civillians have always been targetting, doesn't mean we should target them again. Just because muslims have always been called "terrorists" doesn't make it ok for me to call them that, right? Especially if I know better.
Are these reasons sufficient "justification" for the killings that had occurred in WW-2 : whether by US, Japanese, or Germans ?
The "final solution" to the "jewish problem" was a bad idea. The americans and russians made sure hitler knew that. The dropping of the A bomb is still being debated till this day. It could be as our textbooks said, to save american lives, or it could be racism, or even just a need to test the bomb! If I ever because a professor of history, I'll tell people that the americans had 2 extra bombs and they needed to dispose of it!
How many ways can we interprete the act of discrimination ?
As for the isrealis, can you prove that they treat the palestinians as second class subhumans?
I believe that they do take very strong steps against the palestinians, but without full understanding of their situation, we cannot comment on their need to protect themselves against the palestinians.
I find your reasons morbid in your need to know more before condemning Saddam Hussein for his acts of atrocity towards the Kurds.
Similarly for saddam, he gassed the kurds. The americans have been condemning that for many years. I believed that there is more reasons as to why he wanted to gas the kurds but without full understanding of the facts that saddam had on hand, we cannot comment on his decision to gas the kurds.
The HDB Quota system came about PRIMARILY as a consequence of the Election Results of 1990 - in which it was discovered that voting were made along ethnic lines.
The HDB quota is there for a very sensible reason although I am unable to explain and bring full justice to the substantiation of such actions. Remember, our govt base all their policies on pragmatism, not emotions. They do not do anything to alienate any race or religion, unless there is a very very good substantiation to it. Racism occurs everywhere. Chinese restaurants practise it in every western country. One price for the english menu, lower price for the chinese menu, and better service if you order in cantonese. Blatant racism there. You want to complain?
Hopefully the explanations given here will help, but it will require a large capacity on your part to be more intellectually challenged.
Perhaps you may fare better in clarifying my doubts as posed in my 3 questions rather than use precedence of other mistakes by others to justify the muslim response.
Thanks.
Unfortunately, Adolf Hitler came into power NOT BY OVERWHELMING VOTE through a Democratic Process.Originally posted by Erwin_Rommel:"Was there a "majority" of Germans who supported Adolf Hitler prior to WW-2, or were we misled by propaganda ? "
Hitler wrote a book called Mein Kampf, which clearly stated that he would want to create 'Living space" through conquests. And he did mention his utter disdain of Jews. He wrote that book in mid 1920s.
Towards the late 1920s, many Germans were disgruntled towards the Weirmar Republic (sorry for the spelling mistake) for all sorts of economic problems, most significantly for signing the treaty of Versailles, which Germany agreed to the "war-guilt clause", thus having to pay billions of reparations to the French and British. Hitler's views were extreme, yet it appealed to the majority of the Germans, who eventually voted for him.
If I am not wrong, even communists were gaining support at that period of unrest. Think about this, the Germans who voted Hitler knew what he was planning to do since his book Mein Kampf was becoming sort of a Bilble after he became Chancellor. Remember, Hitler won through DEMOCRACTIC MEANS, meaning majority of the Germans supported him and his ideology. They were certainly not misled by propanganda.
Great to have some contribution of WW-2, and perhaps you will consider adding the following into your archive - concerning the following report of 17 ASSASSINATION ATTEMPTS on Adolf Hitler for various reasons other than military motives.
"Are you not aware that sixty-one years ago to this date on 26 February, there was a conspiracy to assassinate Adolf Hitler by a secret group of Senior Officers in the Wermacht ?"
This is because Hitler knew nothing about warfare. He was just a coporal who had no knowledge of how the war should be fought. In the eyes of those generals, it would be better off that Hitler should be either removed from power since he had no clear aim of what he intended to do, how the war should be fought and lastly, always interfering with Von Manstein in the invasion of USSR. In order for Germany to survive and to win the war, they felt they has to remove Hitler. Even Field Marshall Erwin Rommel (ahem, that's my nick!), felt Hitler should be removed from power and undergo a trial. These officers initially favoured war, but were dis-illusioned by Hitler's interference.
Just pop in here to send in some thoughts.
