Summary about terrorism

I read this from somewhere.
Terrorism does not discriminate. As such, our peaceful state cannot be taken for granted. As a nation working together as one, we can minimize the risk of becoming victims of terrorism. This starts with an individual.
Can someone enlighten me on the bold parts? -

Terrorism does not discriminate mean it can happen to anyone, any race and any place.
As such, our peaceful state cannot be taken for granted.
i think it mean we must not take it for granted even though it does not happen to us we can ignore the fact that terrorism is actively in play. becos if we take it for granted, we are making ourselves vulnerable to danger since we don't know if they were strike on us or when they will strike on us.
Well that my interpretation of the above sentences.

to discriminate against certain individuals means to aim them specifically for certain reasons
so "Terrorism does not discriminate" means that terrorism does not choose who to attack. it can happen to anyone of us anytime no matter how safe we think it is.
thus we cannot think that we r safe in sg although so far no terrorist attack happen yet.. hopefully got none in the future too

IMHO, "Terrorism" can be seen in many different context and forms.
One man's poison is another's meat. You can even inc natural calamity as a nature-instilled form of "terrorism" since such event create similar effects including political, economical and social aspects.
Won't be to far to refer USA as an "eco-terrorist" for her contribution to over 1/4 of worlds industrial-generated CO2 and still failing to control ? -

Well, I believe that "they" tried to do us a number because our leaders are great buddies with Bush, and we nabbed numerous members from the JI group.

the reason why i say he made Bush a scapegoat is he refer the present of terrorist in singapore is due to the fact that singapore send a small force to the gulf which is meant to help in rebuilding and some other form of work. -

Fact is terrorism has been part of history.
The difference is today's terrorists have the means, access and ability to deliver large-scale destruction on civilian targets never seen before.
The 9/11 act is one example and it is just an evolution of terrorism with modern technology.
It was organised, well funded and executed with precision.
It took advantage of Internet, computers, travel, banking system, cell phones and jet planes. All employed to destroy another symbol of modern trade & commerce.
Which is why Al-Qaeda has become a 'brand-name' amongst modern NGO 'terrorist' groupings. It is a private organisation with clearly defined agenda and the ability to influence goverments and societies via effective delivery of a concept into reality.

I think terrorists are everywhere. Thats why they are caught all over the world, no where is safe. Even in peaceful Singapore.

Yes, they hide everywhere, in any country. So the moment the country they are hiding in go against them, they'll take issue with that country.
I think, we can't possibly rid the entire world of terrorists, but as you say, we keep them in check by keeping on our toes.
Thing is, the more we hit on them, the more issues they will have with us.

The Americans gave us no choice but to follow their lead, or risk being put in the same league as the terrorists. Anyone remember Bush's speech when he said "Either you are for us or against us"?
