Terrorism does not discriminate. As such, our peaceful state cannot be taken for granted. As a nation working together as one, we can minimize the risk of becoming victims of terrorism. This starts with an individual. Can someone enlighten me on the bold parts?

Terrorism does not discriminate mean it can happen to anyone, any race and any place.
As such, our peaceful state cannot be taken for granted.
i think it mean we must not take it for granted even though it does not happen to us we can ignore the fact that terrorism is actively in play. becos if we take it for granted, we are making ourselves vulnerable to danger since we don't know if they were strike on us or when they will strike on us.
Well that my interpretation of the above sentences.[/b]
I agree that terrorism can be seen in many context and forms, but natural calamity is a form of terrorism? Isn't it more of natural disaster?Originally posted by Gun:IMHO, "Terrorism" can be seen in many different context and forms.
One man's poison is another's meat. You can even inc natural calamity as a nature-instilled form of "terrorism" since such event create similar effects including political, economical and social aspects.
Won't be to far to refer USA as an "eco-terrorist" for her contribution to over 1/4 of worlds industrial-generated CO2 and still failing to control ?
I don't think so. Even Switzerland don't think so. Switzerland is a country with neutrality policy. They still prepare themselves for terrorism attacks.Originally posted by ShutterBug:I don't see or read about Terrorism in China, or New Zealand?
I think if we mind our own business, they won't bug us...
ur words is exactly what the second sentence is trying to tell us. As such, our peaceful state cannot be taken for granted. by compromising, we are only putting ourselve in serious trouble.Originally posted by ShutterBug:I don't see or read about Terrorism in China, or New Zealand?

What Gun is talking about is environmental pollution causing climate changes, I think.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:I agree that terrorism can be seen in many context and forms, but natural calamity is a form of terrorism? Isn't it more of natural disaster?
Nabbing terrorist cells is the job of every country and not do it for the sake of another country. by not nabbing these troublemaker, isn't it as good as placing a time bomb under ur ass and wait for it to explode won't it be too late to remedy by then?Originally posted by ShutterBug:Well, I believe that "they" tried to do us a number because our leaders are great buddies with Bush, and we nabbed numerous members from the JI group.
It takes matches, to start a fire.
Well, we had a part in the Iraq war, we stood next to Bush, so they came, hence we had to be on our toes to nab them before they put us all into a long nap.Originally posted by strikefreedom:Nabbing terrorist cells is the job of every country and not do it for the sake of another country. by not nabbing these troublemaker, isn't it as good as placing a time bomb under ur ass and wait for it to explode won't it be too late to remedy by then?![]()
Don't forget JI cell group already existed in singapore even before the war started. so how can you put the blame of the presence of terrorists on Bush even though he may not be right in the war?Originally posted by ShutterBug:Well, we had a part in the Iraq war, we stood next to Bush, so they came, hence we had to be on our toes to nab them before they put us all into a long nap.
I mean, which dog wouldn't bite if you don't step on its tail???
Nobody is using USA as a scapegoat. However, the war in Iraq made things worse than before.Originally posted by strikefreedom:Don't forget JI cell group already existed in singapore even before the war started. so how can you put the blame of the presence of terrorists on Bush even though he may not be right in the war?
Simply put you are just using him as a scapegoat in ur argument isn't it?
We stood on the same side, but never fight the war. Like that they also want to attack us? Our red cross send there for fun de ar?Originally posted by ShutterBug:Well, we had a part in the Iraq war, we stood next to Bush, so they came, hence we had to be on our toes to nab them before they put us all into a long nap.

no matter whether the invasion took place or not, the fact is terrorists always exist and we need to be on alert at all time to deter them from doing anything in singapore.Originally posted by iveco:Nobody is using USA as a scapegoat. However, the war in Iraq made things worse than before.

ROFL so you are suggesting we should succumb to their threat and leave them alone and pray that they won't hit on us since:Originally posted by ShutterBug:Yes, they hide everywhere, in any country. So the moment the country they are hiding in go against them, they'll take issue with that country.
I think, we can't possibly rid the entire world of terrorists, but as you say, we keep them in check by keeping on our toes.
Thing is, the more we hit on them, the more issues they will have with us.
Like credit card usage - bill you later....
Well, I agree, we should never allow them to push us around, true. But Since we've already hopped onto the Anti-terrorists Wagon, we will have to carry on being vigilant.Originally posted by strikefreedom:ROFL so you are suggesting we should succumb to their threat and leave them alone and pray that they won't hit on us since:

He is trying to say that a military solution in itself will not work in the long run. There has to be some room for negotiation.Originally posted by strikefreedom:ROFL so you are suggesting we should succumb to their threat and leave them alone and pray that they won't hit on us since:
