Unfortunately, with the redrawing of electorial boundaries and the creation of GRC style constituencies, the vast number of walkovers simply mean numerous MPs were never VOTED for by the people.Originally posted by Dr Who:I cannot stand two-faced people who complain about Govt.
I will ask : who you vote for ah?
They say : PAP lor !

Stupid fools. Vote PAP, then complain PAP govt. ......only those who vote for anti-PAP party have right to complain......
If you are referring to GRCs that have walkovers, then it's not their problem. They don't get to vote.Originally posted by Dr Who:I cannot stand two-faced people who complain about Govt.

I would prefer to have more platforms so that in case I lose one, I sitll have the others.Originally posted by Salman:GRC makes sense administratively.
If i am na oppositon, I will like teh idea cos I get to win big by focusing my resources on one platform while PAP have to scatter theirs all over the country.
The opposition should take it as an opportunity to take over 4 or 5 seats at one go. This will give the opposition strength in numbers.
erpz... your argument here has nothing to do with administration of the country!!!Originally posted by Salman:GRC makes sense administratively.

the sgp voters tend to support "ministers". all the GRCs are anchored by a strong minister.. so it is almost a shoo-in....Originally posted by Salman:GRC makes sense administratively.

We all should tryOriginally posted by spencer99:Can u imagine LKY loosing the Tanjong pagar GRC?
I agree. That way we will all get a fair idea of how many supporters they actually or don't have, rather than just the number of supporters the opposition party has. At the same time, I agree that those who vote for PAP then bitch about the PAP are indeed hypocrites.Originally posted by BillyBong:The election committee, in an effort to underline greater democracy and freedom of choice, should require ALL constituents of GRCs (even the ones which are unchallenged on the election day) to vote for their party and/or party members (Since many new faces are complete unknowns)
The mandatory majority vote should still be in effect in these cases. That way, if complacency strikes the incumbent party, voters still have a chance to voice their displeasure by abstaining; in the event of failure to obtain a majority mandate, an interim team can be brought in to replace the incumbents and a 2nd round of election may be called in the affected GRCs to confirm the new team's status.

He said 'VOTE'. If theres a walkover, how to vote?Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:If you are referring to GRCs that have walkovers, then it's not their problem. They don't get to vote.
If you are referring to others where the opposition challenged the PAP, and these people voted for PAP and complained, then you are right.
In the last election, GCT asked for "mandate" and promised "Swiss standard of Living" and "More Good Years Ahead". We all know how the story went and who really got to enjoy the more good years.Originally posted by Dr Who:I cannot stand two-faced people who complain about Govt.

The history of Singapore told us the answer already. So don't bother complaining, you are just wasting your time and saliva.
