We want fair election

Given another 5 years of internet age, people cannot be bought by small goodies or sweet talk at election time and will grow up with ability to see beyond a few crumbs on the table. Men simply cannot live by bread alone.

"To build a democratic society, based on justice and equality" - I'm sorry. "To" doesn't mean now.
Politics can never be fair. I feel that PAP, doing things which they have already done, is more than enough for people who are potiental threats. If it's me, I'll abolish elections and set up total dictatorship.
The opposition parties need to work harder. Low Thia Khiang, in my opinion, did a good job. Just because I'm 15 doesn't mean I don't know politics.
You can't deny the fact PAP are clever. How can they come up with such an ingenious idea - GRCs? You allow people to contest. "We welcome competition." Yet, 10 / 14 GRCs gets a walkover. Politics can never be fair. Unless we get communists. But then, that would be because there's no election.[/i] -
Election process in Singapore is never be fair. I pay tax every year and if my MP is not a PAP member, the money will go other PAP ward for upgradeing. Also, If it is un opposed, we dont hear the program.

Election in Singapore is nv fair...give you a example...Goh Chok Tong said that SDA Chiam See Tong has no money to upgrade all the flat...but how will PAP get the money from to upgrade those flat than...isn't those money they using is our money...the PAP should think of their people and not because the people in this area don't vote for me...so i leave them there to die...that all i have to say...you guy just have to decide who to vote since my GRC is win already by PAP...

To have a fair election. we must have a independent watchdog to monitor the election. Do you know that is election department is under the PM control. How can we trust the election when the department is under PM's control?

The government/PAP has successfully created singapore
1) where people are fearful - you can't anyhow speak of your opinions or you will be sued.
2) where people are ignorant - they control the media (except internet) so you can only read and see the good side of their policies. Every policy they implement (GRC, resale levy, high medical, high HDB....), they must think of a good excuse to convince the people!
3) where people are cheated - some people think that our government is the best in the world! Thanks to our media again, which always listen and publish PAP's side of policies. give them $ somemore (when it is our $ collected very month from cpf, they just withdraw this $ from the hugh pool and give it back to you earlier)
So all these work to their advantage when it comes to election.

In the case of a club or membership organization, club constitutions always say that members will enjoy equal rights and privileges. If anyone is discriminated, the member has a right to start a class action or take his own action on the club for breach of the constitution or collective contract.
In the case of Potong Pasir, residents should not accept discriminatory practices by the HDB or Town council. They will have the right to upgrade the estates based on equality of treatment under the Town Council Act.
In private condominium the Strata Title Board has ruled on many occasions that residents are accessible to all such rights of upgrading or improvements irrespective of how the management justifies the decisions to upgrade different areas at different times. It has ruled that any reserving of parking lots for any particular group of residents is illegal.
Residents of Potong Pasir should consider starting a class action to get back their rightful entitlements. Only when people can show that they intend to protect their right will the government finally listen and treat them with equality to entitlements as the rest in Toa Payoh or nearby estates in upgrading of their estates.
If the HDB or town council are to rely on technicality such as voting for upgrading the residents should show them that this is only detailed decision making by residents and their rights to availability of the common fund for common areas upgrading in equality of all is not affected by such technicality. -

Where does Mr Sitoh get money to upgrade the lift? I hope it is from his pocket and not our tax (income tax and gst) money. Singapore is a fine City and we should treat every citzen alike and we should not segregrate into opposition and non-opsition ward. When I am in potong pasir, people are very friendy there. i got worker party broucher. My Low say he apply for HDB lift upgrading for my block but it was rejected due to it does not serve common corridor interest. coz my 5th floor, 9th floor 12th floor got common corridor. i wonder if pap win then hdb approve our block for lift upgrade... hmmmm

Fairness is subjective. Is it fair for US atheletes to use multi-million dollars sports attire to compete with africans atheletes some time on bare feet even?
PAP candidates has access to more funds for constituents because they are the government party. When opposition becomes government, they too can follow suit. See how DPP exploits the bureacracy to its own benefits after it wrestled power from KMT in Taiwan.
Running a constituency and running a country is quite a different ball game. Opposition has to prove it can run a constituency well despite having less resources than their PAP counterparts before the electorate can even consider allowing them a chance to run a country.
I wish Singapore to be prosperous for many decades to come. I believe in a pragmatic government to be able to see to it. -

Attended the May Day Rally yesterday at Suntec City.
It was a family affair - father, mother and wife were there to lend support. Don't know whether the son was there or not. It turned out to be a Rally alright - campaigning for the Election! -
