so if schools dun want their image to be tarnished by students wearing uniforms sloppily, dun have uniforms!! simple isn't it?? or dun sew the school name on uniforms and dun force students to wear school badge.
That way wear sloppily maybe can jia huo to other schools whose uniforms look like the same.

and i dunno what style it is when most schools' uniform especially white colour one is a little bit see through and u can see the girl's bra strap. -
despondent: dressing styles (be it sloppy or watsoeva) of school uniform is never an academic issue.
it depends on individual of how they see u as.
'sloppily dressed is really very the not good la.' u can dun give a damn if it's none of ur business. u dun even hv to judge them or wat. why bother so much? it's they themselves portray in a way they feel like it. what i said in the last post is how others who mind abt it. -

i was a student, i do slack down a bit aft sch hours, or even in sch i oso tuck out sometimes. (cos my shirt a bit small ma)
sloppily : crumpled, dirts all over if u were to play ard with ur other frens. like a begger. zzzzzzz
human beings r sensitive no matter what. they only console themselves by talking soem sense to ownself with what they feel is right. n others cant stop them or change how they wan to think. n they r determine to have their own stand. this is their perspective of live. -

morning assembly sit on carpark, sometimes got stuffs need to go to hall and sit on the floor which is already covered with footprints all over. -
okok...after seeing all the replies...i wil juz sum it up by saying tat its the attitudes of students tat make the diff. its unfair to say tat tightening the tie makes u nerdy...ppl do look gd in ties u noe...it is the attitude lah...of diff. students...some exercise betta uniform discipline, others juz dun...mostly affected by our life n sch experiences

it's a routine n a respect for urself. u wont want to look so 'bu hao kan' right. no matter what at some point of time u still gt to change the habit of dressing improperly. at some occasions la.
In sch. haiz, blame the sch for being so fussy la. no badge oso wan to scold. BUT, pls dun think that the badge is for nothing. show respect for urself as while as for sch. everyone oso happy, right? -

I personally do not think that one of the first thing parents choose school for their child by looking at how the students dress. Parents look at solely the result so i believe the reputation will not be tarnish much except if the student go and rob or do something drastic then the reputation will be ruin.
Reputation is not everything, look at the person who invented E=mc2 do u think his dressing stain his fame?
To those who say if u do not want to dress properly then get out of the school, I will tell him that its not so easy to do so. Ever heard of shen bu u ji. Would the student parents agreed to let them quit school? Moreover which dam school do not need to wear uniform properly!!!!!!!
Lastly i suggest that if u want student to dress properly u must win their loyalty , let them have pride in their school and tell them why they need to dress properly.
I personally believe that protecting the school repute is not a good reason if i dont give a dam about the school. -

to new age: i agree wif the above...however, read my greeting msg again...i am referrinf to those who claim to be PROUD of their school n uniform...they say such things but outwardly they dress sloppily...like i also said earlier, its a matter of attitude...i have nothing to say abt uniform dressing to those who claim they dun give a damn abt the sch... -
I think from the way u dress, we can come to a close conclusion of how a person behaves. Eg, untidy hair = lazy. Lazy to go cut hair, occasionally, it's the prices that affects students. And for uniform, hhmm, linked to attitude?
I feel that the un-tucking of uniform show that u are full of attitude (negative sense), so parents ultimately don't wnat their child to mix with bad attitude ppl, hence, spoiling the school image.
Many schs have resolved the problem by redesigning their uniforms. Some examples includes fully tuck out designs or the folding-in design. Hassle free.
BUt abt short skirts and baggy pants, i have nth to say ... -
Urm. For ur information, after school, and we STEPPED out of the school, we are immediately free. We can do whatever we want that is acceptable by laws and parents(lol).
Actually, the bad thing among us Singaporeans is that we judged by the APPEARANCE. So what if he dresses sloppily? He might be some genius, who study until so late that he forgot to shower, forgot to do this and that...
However, I still have to be in GOOD appearance, both in uniform and behavior. Anything I go out with my school uniform on, I make sure to behave PROPERLY. I been to White Sands once, and a bunch of Coral Sec guys were talking among themselves VERY loudly. This just sets a bad impressions. VERY bad impressions.
So, if you mean by this, do you mean..
#1. Wearing uniforms people walking quietly
#2. Wearing uniforms group of people walking and talking quietly...
#3. Wearing uniforms people showing off their underpants or legs or cleavage...
#4. One group of talking rubbish and showing off everything group of people wearing uniforms?
Anyway, neither way, we should all know that Singaporeans are like this. Judge by appearances.....

My school is very strict when it come to uniform,the skirt MUST cover the knee,the discipine mistress has a habit,always after school go to the school's nearby bus stop & check on the student,those caught shortening their skirt,will ask to go to her office for punishment the next day..

U have not seen schs with the discipline committe raiding fast-food outlets and hawker centres telling students to go home. Abt ties, a simple idea is to ask the school to adopt clip ties. Then on one would have a excuse abt the weather is too hot. On the flipside, lazy students are produced.
The uniform, ultimately, does no represent the school. It represents U, cos u are wearing it. If a person sees a student (with untuck shirt or short skirts, etc) from afar. The 1st impression is on the student himself (or herself). SImply , the person may not be able to recognise the uniform from afar. It is only at near distance when the school is probably recognised, and thus spoiling the image of the school. However, the image of the student has already been spoiled b4 that of the school.
If they say "1st impression counts", y are u spoiling ur own 1st impression ? -

moreover the school is not very respecting our own space and freedom, since we're outside school we can't be breaking school rules about not tucking shirts in, yet they still use the uniform to ya the students.
the way they're handling this is even worse than prison, at least when u're out of prison u're a free man.
and talking about first impressions, we go to school everyday, most of the ppl that see us also see us everyday, so u dun really care about how u look since school is like a second home as they say. -

According to the Oxford Dictionary, definition number one of the word “school”, is, simply, “a place where children are educated”.
A school is simply a place where children are educated, and that it is every schoolÂ’s mission to nurture their students into fine adults with knowledge, intellect, as well as high moral integrity.
Now, how then does the preservation of the schoolÂ’s image comply with this mission statement? As far as the students are concerned, they go to a school to learn, and not to be forced into comforming to rules on attire. I am questioning the very basis of this argument that poor attire tarnishes the school's reputation. Is there really a need for schools to uphold an image to others?
By meeting out standards and expectations on uniform, on hair length.. the MOE is constantly trying to improve the education system to nurture the creativity of students. yet they fail to see that creativity is not something that can be taught, and the only way to nurture creativity is to provide the environment for it. if students are not given the basic freedom to exercise creativity in their dressing.. meeting out standards for hair and attire, hair must be combed neatly, channels clear, sideburns shaved, etc.. it is probably going to be hard to see any results.
And even in taiwan, the govt has already moved away from tradition and abolished rules regarding hair and attire in schools. why cant sg learn from them?
As an organization a school has and reserves the right to meet out various rules and expectations for their students. and like in all other organizations, all members have no choice but to abide by the rules set in order to remain part of it. However, what I am trying to say here is my personal opinion, that rules should be set with the sole purpose of aiding the schools in achieving their mission of educating and nurturing students, and that no school will become any less or worse and educational institution if the rules on attire and hair are abolished. -

If its outside school but considered school event (eg, National Education trip), then you need to dress according to school rules as you are still subjected to it. But if not, no need. You are not liable for that rule anymore!
