Silly Singaporean Make Another Silly World Record

More than 1,700 Singaporeans converged on the island's 13 golf clubs to commemorate the National University of Singapore's 100th anniversary and hopefully set a new world record.
President S R Nathan started the mass tee-off from Laguna National Golf and Country Club and the siren was webcast live to the other 12 golf clubs.
The NUS alumni hopes to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest number of golfers teeing off simultaneously for a one-day golf event.
President Nathan, who is also the Chancellor of NUS said: "This is the first time all 13 clubs have come together to tee off at the same time and to do something to commemorate the NUS's 100th anniversary."
Singaporeans have really nothing to do but to chase after longest lou-hei and largest number of paper fans made.
The above activities will explain to the NUS Student why they have to pay so much for their school fees. -
In their quest for fame. Trying to put SG on the world map again. They should try the World record for the most number of bo liao records.

About 100 elderly folks were at the club on Monday afternoon, not to boogie but to enjoy a sumptuous meal.
This event, which was into its 11th year, was actually a reunion lunch for senior citizens from Tanjong Pagar GRC, who live alone in one-room flats and have no relatives.
And joining them in their 8-course-lunch was Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
As in previous years, Zouk's management donated $60,000, which will go towards providing daily meals to the elderly for the entire year.
$25,000 was a personal donation by its managing director, Lincoln Cheng.
These elderly also received S$40 hongbaos contributed by the club's staff who also gave their guests a rousing performance.
Can't they find a proper restaurant to have a good lunch ?

I totally concur. Going for minor targets like more records for Guiness' book isn't going to help our reputation much.
What we need to be known for is to be the best in what we do, not triumph others in terms of silly records that we create.
Anyone wants the record for the most number of people biting into a burger dancing the marcarena simultaneously on one feet? -
breaking records just for the sake of breaking it is a record by itself.

IMHO, this is a good idea. A good meal does not have to be in a restaurant. Also getting some publicity from the donation is ok.
