wad kind of punishments r more suitable in schools today

all of us i believe have had our fair share of being punished in school. some punishments r more physical while others more psychological...physical ones include caning, CWO, kneeling or standing for long periods etc...psychological ones like pulling of ears, facing the wall, being ask to sing in front of whole class etc...i personally feel tat diff. punishments shld vary wif the severity of offences n the age of the student involved...surely u wun wanna shame a university student by punishing him like a primary schoolboy?
below is a true account of a student i noe who was punished by a teacher...he was punished for spewing 1 word of vulgarity...
student: @#%()&*&^%$%^*
teacher: U!!! COME HERE!!! HOW DARE U SAY TAT!!! COME HERE!!!
boy approaches n teacher scolded: WAD DID U SAY JUZ NW?! I DARE U TO REPEAT WAD U SAID JUZ NW!!!
STUDENT: i didnt say anything...
teacher: DUN DENY IT ALRITE!!! I HEARD WAD U SAID!!! I HEARD U!!!(pulls student to 1 corner) SLAP URSLEF!!! SLAP!!! KEEP ON SLAPPING!!
(abt 10 min later) teacher: U R NT SLAPPING...U R PATTING!!!(pulls student out of class) dun wanna slap rite...face the whole school n slap...
in the end, DM happen to walk pass...teacher complained abt student to him n student was caned in front of whole class
wad r ur views abt tis? was the teacher too harsh? was the student deserving of the punishment? air them here... -
That's nothing...in primary school, if anyone used vulgarirties, my teacher would stuff his mouth completely full with blackboard chalk for the whole lesson. The fellow was vomiting chalk dust for the rest of the day (he swallowed one piece)

well, at least urs happened in primary school...tis case of my classmate happened in secondary school. imagine a secondary school student being punished like tat? i feel the 1st punishment was appropriate though a bit harsh but the caning was way out of proportion...making a mountain out of a molehill...but chalk is very dirty...the student could have a stomach upset for swallowing it... -

Primary School: stand, pull your ears, stand on the tables, chairs, no recess
Sec 1/2: CWO, Call parents, caning. some teachers even say it themselves, so OK..
Sec 3/4: canng, call parents, discipline commitee.
overall, stuents nowadays have guts to do, no ball to admit the wrongdoing.. really terrible.. and i mean boys.. -
In kindergarten my teachers used to stuff red hot chillies into the mouth...

this teacher must be really pevertic...like that is very dangerous one leh, somemore is use on primary school kids, can imagine the phycological damage done on them or not?
anyway, i feel that physical punishment should only be used as a last resort, as in the case of scolding vulgar language (maybe not for the first time larz...give stern warning first)...especially if a student direct it at the teacher -

he should still be punished...although not that harshly, maybe to apologise and do some corrective work order like doing classroom duty for the whole week etc? anyway even if the DM agrees that he should be punished this way, he can still complain, cause its just overly punitive and harsh

Stuffing one pupil's mouth with blackboard chalk? Omg, this is even worse! What if got poisoned? What if accidentally swallowed some?
Some teachers just are no longer sane.

man, during our class in sec4 ppl said Vulgarities freely...and teacher's dont care. They just say 'eh don't say so much la' and such. Well even one of those teachers is famous for scolding 'arseholes' and 'bastards'

in my primary school days, i remember getting slapped, thrown things at by the male teachers. for the female teachers, they always like to give childish punishment like no recess, tape your mouth, pull ears etc.
for contraband items or they find u reading comic etc, they will confiscate it and only return if u beg them to.

i agree with gordonator...it always seems like the female teachers r less physical n more into psychological punishments...of cuz there r exceptions...they make u do things like ear-pulling, slapping urself, mouth-taping etc n in front of whole class!! i remember one incident when a female teacher in secondary sch made a classmate kneel in front of the whole class n pull his ears...even though it lasted onli abt 10 min...the student feltutterly embarrassed after tat...male teachers tend to be more physical, like throwing things at u, hitting u wif ruler etc -
back in the old days whenever the teachers complain the students to their parents, the parents will say, "teacher, please go ahead and punish him, he at home also like that 1."
nowadays, teachers seldom physically punish the students or make them lose face in fornt of the class, afterall knowing the parents nowadays, his/her ricebowl in at stake. -

once you're past secondary school you're free to just quit and walk out of school if you don't like it.
