If you are willing to work hard, nothing is impossible. The Chinese proved it. Of course, racial equality would make this easier.Originally posted by Thailand_Hero:I am so glad to be a chinese in Singapore where my investments and business is protected by the government.
It really stumps me. how come even though so much handicaps are imposed on the chinese in malaysia...yet their economy is still mainly dominated by chinese?
you mean bumi sucks so badly that even if u handicap other races they can't prosper? i am confused

Yup. Curious to know, if Malaysia policies are fairer, do you think Malaysia Chinese would have done better or worse? Somehow, I feel that they would do better without all those unfair policies.Originally posted by soulness:the Malaysian Chinese proved it...

From my past contributions - 2003/2004 in this Speakers' Corner, those who are familiar with my various positions taken will have a good laugh at your "no brainer" speculation. .Originally posted by Salman:
The truely racist and condescending people are the msian govt.
They are in effect saying that bumis are inferior to non bumis and needs protection.
Our Malays have proven them wrong, they have proven that Malays can compete and thrive and that no one race is not superior or inferior over another.
I don't understand how stupid people like you can call yourself a muslim and believe in racism at the same time.

Are you supposed to be educated to a tertiary level ? And in economics too ?
Should we be surprised in your often repeated "boo-boo" in your superior conclusions as a result of your " econmy of thought " ?
Do you even know the meaning of the word : CONDESCENDING . ?
Can the "msian govt" be CONDESCENDING by simply ADMITTING to a KNOWN SITUATION that their own "bumis" are inferior to "non-bumis" ?
While their SELF-ADMISSION is to identify a problem, YOUR POSITION is taken from a position of "SELF-ANNOINTED" SUPERIORITY, purposefully taken to LOOK DOWN at someone whom YOU THINK is poorer than ourselves; AND speaking badly of our neighbor - SIMPLY because of YOUR POOR ATTITUDE towards "the MALAYS" a.k.a "the BUMIS" - ALL of whom happen to be MUSLIMS .Should we be surprised if your constant posting of threads are PURPOSEFULLY SLANTED in your CONTINUOUS EFFORT to denigrade the MUSLIMS ?
Is the truth of your bias attitude towards MUSLIMS not reflected in the manner of your speculation that I am a Muslim - as reflected in your last "no brainer, one-liner statement " :
I don't understand how stupid people like you can call yourself a muslim and believe in racism at the same time.

Four million of out of a population of 28 million is not many. If Sporean immigrate no to four million, trouble already.Originally posted by Salman:4 million Msian Chinese migrated. Did we top 4 million?
This is more of one race is the owner of the mother land. All visitors is not allowed to take (real or perceived) advantage of the owner of the mother land. All visitors should “listen, pay dully" and obey to the laws and rules “spoken and unspoken” set by the owner of the mother land.indeed, the ,malays tink they r son of e soil. dats wy e country is called MALAYsia.
Are not many of the government thinking in this way?
But problem is dey make up only abt 35percent of e population.Originally posted by will4:Four million of out of a population of 28 million is not many. If Sporean immigrate no to four million, trouble already.

If they think they are right, then don't do business with others. Close their doors like North Korea and have a market to support their ownselves. Let the rulers rule as they deem fit. If they want to do business with others, then observe the rules. Don't do so for the sake of supporting the country and introducing policies that will harm the country in the long run. Hi, I'm new to this forum. I am a Singaporean chinese.
Well, I have some stuff regarding the racial discrimination in Malaysia. My mum was born and raised in Malaysia before she came to Singapore to study. I have many malaysian friends who came to Singapore to study too. I myself have been to Malaysia several times. So I am no stranger to this issue.
Well, the Alliance party says the purpose of NEP is supposed to raise the living standards of the Malaysian Malays. Prior to independence, the British never really cared about economic welfare, they were concerned about earning money. Thus, when they left Malaysia they left behind the serious problem of economic disparity among the races, which could be a cause for social instability.
The cultural difference between the malays, chinese and indians put the malays at a natural disadvantage. Chinese/Indian migrants come from a more economic-concious society from the coastal regions of India and China, while most Malays prefer a less competitive and relaxed lifestyle. Their views on education, economic status differ from the Chinese and Indians. In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with this, because its their way of life and culture, and we should respect each other.
Thus, although racist and unfair, the NEP is kind of justified as a drastic measure to bring the Malaysian malays to the same level of economic ownership as the other races. However, the NEP, like Welfarism has proved to be double-edged sword, it can bring about short term economic improvement, it eventually sapped the motivational spirit of the Malays to bring about sustained growth. It is like certain drugs are used to cure an illness but one becomes too dependent on it after recovery. In my opinion, the Malaysian malays have to change this mindset and bring about more equality in their country, their overreliance on Malay rights policies will ultimately drag their country down. Who will benefit then?
no choice ma. have to survive.. i believe different societies have their good and bad. i don't like to compare malaysia n singapore imo, or between any societies if possible.Originally posted by will4:I had spoken to a local ffren n he mentioned Sporean in general quite petty.

Salman, if we top that, Singapore would be empty. We have around 4 million people in this island, including all races and foreign talent. When you write, please think.Originally posted by Salman:4 million Msian Chinese migrated. Did we top 4 million?

It will be a joke if someone from outside sees this. Whole of Singapore migrating to another country. At least, use comparison. If Malaysia has 10 million people, and 4 million migrated, approximately 40% migrated. Use this same proportion for Singapore.
