For the last 5 years, we heard nothing from them. Now, one by one, they are crawling out of the woodwork and given air time on tv and space in the newspapers - with nice picture of them mingling with Singaoreans.
The latest one to be crawling out of the wood work is Cynthia Phua.
When I was watching her on the news just now, my friend turned to me and asked "Who is she? Never seen her before!"
Well, expect more of such PAP MPs to crawl out over the next few weeks - and all will be saying how concerned how they are about singaporeans.

Aljunied GRC MP Cynthia Phua asks PAP leadership about ward line-up

A change in the People's Action Party line-up of faces for Aljunied GRC may take place in the next General Election.
The recent electoral boundaries report showed that Mrs Lim Hwee Hua's Serangoon ward has moved from Marine Parade GRC to Aljunied GRC.
Considering the change, Madam Cynthia Phua was asked if she would continue as MP in the 5-member Aljunied GRC.
Madam Phua said she had spoken to the party leadership about it.
"Two days ago, I discussed this issue with the leadership. Among the six of us, one person must go. We must be mentally prepared. I hope to stay here but I leave it to the party leadership to decide," she told reporters at a skills training event to teach hawkers about good service.
Madam Phua said Mrs Lim would be welcomed if she was fielded in Aljunied, as her performance is good.
But Madam Phua added that it was also possible someone new could be fielded.
As for the opposition, the Workers' Party, team led by its Chairman Sylvia Lim, is expected to contest in Aljunied GRC. - CNA/ir -

It's no coincidence that the last-min action style of the ruling party should mirror the typical habits of singaporeans.
Campaign at the dearth, work hard to gather support at the last minute, show face on TV at the last min, re-draw electorial boundaries at the last min....
What more could one expect from a very SINGAPOREAN-flavoured election? -
At least she is grooming future voters.
That is provided she can survived the next 8 years. -
Kind of too late when you have done nothing to help the people.
No point making too much public appearance at the last minute.
No one will know or bother who you are.
Unless you have done enough ground work.
But, if you are being not voted in but tagged along in the 1st place, do you need to do any ground work at all ? -
Can't stand those who seek to become MP, then skip Parliament sitting, sit on company boards, busy with their jobs or businesses and have so little time to do the MP work (and drawing fat MP pay). Pursuing to be an MP looks more like pursuing a license to reap more income streams.
What's the use of having an MP who serves not the people's but his/her own interests most of the time?

I never watched parliament on TV. Didn't take attendance but I understand that MPs need to fulfill a minimum attendance. Did she fulfill the attendance for parliament and meet the MP sessions? Why she got so much time to attend speech day in sec school every year? Did the school pay her to attend?

It's all a wayang - there're no real oppositions lah...
What's there to compete?
Just simply do away with GE, save us all the time, so we can all just keep on working hard to pay our bills and taxes. -
pap knows very well that most singaporeans have very short memories and they are using the same success formula, whether it will work this time will be known very soon.

Let's be honest here, can anybody even name 2 out of the 5 or 6 MPs in your GRC?
Maybe you might remember the minister anchoring it, and maybe his deputy for the GRC but what about the rest? -

Never heard before....Now the AMK GRC split into single ward..my side single ward headed by Mr Seng Han Tong... I think i will be seeing him in person more often now, going around and ask " is everything ok? need any help, feel free to look for us ok?"
On parliament, they also started to voice out their opinion more often.
