Is Singaporeans patriotic?

This morning, I when to a hawker centre for breakfast and saw this "ang mor" wore a polo shirt with a Singapore flag sew on the left chest. He walked proudly, chest up towards the bus stop. I noticed many people (including me) stared at him as he walked pass. I was happy because this "ang mor" adopt Singapore as his home and he apparently proud of it.
I resided overseas many years and I noticed many ang mor like to display Union Jack or England flags outside their houses. I had a flatmate that always hang England flag in his room. In the neighbourhood where I lived, I saw flags such as USA, Finnish and Union Jacks hanging outside their houses. I was thinking of hanging Singapore flag but could not find one there
So, my question is, are we patriotic? If we are, should we show our patriotism by displaying Singapore flags, wear it on our shirts, bags, etc? Are we proud to be Singaporeans? -

Put flag outside the house means they are patriotic?
By wearing red and white everyday means you are patriotic?
All these things are just what you see on the surface. If they are really patriotic, they will be willing to stay in their home countries and go through all the sweet and bitter their country is going through. If Singapore one day ever falls, you will see where they go. -

The notion of patriotism is often manipulated, just look at the U.S, politicians utilizing the feelings of patriotism in the aftermath of 9-11 to initiate war and enact draconian laws which empower the government.
Patriotism means loving your country and upon all course, defend it from any individual, group who seek to put into risk the 'common good' of it's citizens. Thus, if an individual stands out in the U.S and calls for a withdrawl of American troops in Iraq, the establishment will term him as unpatriotic as he does not support his troops who are fighting for their country. So is he really unpatriotic? or is he a patriot speaking his mind out for the 'common good' of his fellow citizens and for his country?
Who defines patriotism?
As for myself I love my country deeply. -
