Cloning babies for cabinet ministers

This is intended to be provocative and to be taken with a big pinch of salt...
The government has always justified high salaries for cabinet ministers because talent is limited in Singapore and only a handful of people (or rather, a few families) are good enough to entrust the future of the nation. So our PM's father is MM, his mother is the head of a major law firm, his brother head of Singtel, sister is head of NNI etc..
Now that IVF is possible and cloning a likely possibility in future, perhaps we should clone all our cabinet ministers. This will resolve our shortage of babies and more importantly, ensure we have enough talent for years to come. How about using that A*STAR female scholar who complain about whining NS boys as surrogate mother...let her perform her national service.

But seriously, while physically, they look alike, I don't think cloning will be able to clone intelligence. Plus the environment now is different from the 1965 Singapore. -

Cloning wont solve the problem. The clone is not the same person intellectually.
Also, they decsendents of great people might not be as good as their ancestors too.
Example: 3 Kingdoms
After Zhuge Liang died, his son Zhuge Zhan is also reverved, but sadly speaking his son does not have his ability (ai wu qi wu)
Hence, "meritocracy" is practiced to make sure only the best are chosen.
