80% of Singaporeans have never voted anyway
2. All second generation PR need to serve Singapore NS but do not have the right to vote for Election.
3. Even though Second generation PR need to Serve Singapore NS but they do get any extra benefits . They can still only buy resale HDB flats , not allowed to vote if there will be an upgrade in the HDB flat that he owns. Worse , he will not even get any government subsidies for the flat upgrade proposed by the HDB and need to pay thoundsand of dollars for the upgrade when it only cost a few hundred to a SingaporeanThe rising single population means that fewer Singaporeans will benefit from HDB loans.
4. Second generation PR also do not get cheap loan from HDB to buy the resale flat. The money saved in working 2 years would have easily covered the amount.
Or help Singapore to build an astronomical record for reserves.
All the taxes will be use to subsidise Singaporean in term of medical , HDB and development of Singapore.

Yes, they can, provided they leave Singapore before age 11 and so do not enjoy the benefits of the Singapore education and other services.Originally posted by LazerLordz:can they give it up before they turn 21?If not, NS has caught them already.
If you are talking about PRs... They can give up their Permanent Residence status at any age. Lets say he chooses to give it up at 17... The government can't do anything.Originally posted by LazerLordz:can they give it up before they turn 21?If not, NS has caught them already.

I[b] wanted to bring myself to agree with your view but inside me disagree.
If we cannot stand up in Singapore, it will be difficult for commoner like us to make it to another developed countries. We are all singaporeans, the only difference is how rich you are and how poor I am.. no class. Only things is that the gap is getting bigger like ozone layer.
Read our pledge carefully as quoted "We, the citzen of Singapore, pledged ourself as one united people, regardless of races, languages or religions, ......etc etc". It had worked and it can't be wrong. I personally have strong faith in it.[b]Sorry to pour cold water over your shoulder. Those successful stories shown to us are people likely with $$$ and established connections. . I don't think average Singaporean without $$$ can go out and started his career easily. (no thinking of opportunity).
Other countries like UK, Aust have employment law that banned unskilled foreigner from going there to work. Unless, someone is so special else he will have no door to be engaged in any open employment into their countries.Your chances of success is only if you are thinking of 3rd world countries, where yet to discovered by other developers.

to the name part.Originally posted by Calvin86:Survey - the story
I prepared and wrote my survey of 10 question and double checked the questionaire a few times and printed 52 copies.
I walked into the streets of Singapore and started asking the passerbys to help me do my questoinaires.
Afterawhile, i started to realised that i could be easily mistaken for a pesky insurance agent with my stack of questionaire. Everyone was avoiding me.
Alas i found some kind souls who would help me to fill the questionaires.
But for some strange reason, no one would write their name on the questionaire. I wonder if it is like what Seah Cheng Nee had said "Voting is secret." sympton. Singaporeans i think, do not like to make their political opinions known. One even ask me if i am from the government ministry.
After one whole afternoon, i counted the questionaires but i am still way off from my 50 target mark. After this experience, i really sympathize with those pesky insurance agents.
now this is an oxymoron.Originally posted by oxford mushroom:enjoy the benefits of the Singapore education

finally, another reason about sg society that i dislike is tat if they think they don't have a chance of doing well outside the system, the try to make everyone else think this way(aka pour cold water). These are the real quitters.
By the way, are you back in Singapore. Am I right to say that you are borned in 1983 = 23 years old and location still UK as stated in your pofile?Originally posted by king108:Well I sincerely hoped that your claim is true. That will be good for singapore.

I would fight for Singapore only if she issues me m4 + ak47 and unlimted ammo .Originally posted by Calvin86:Would you fight for Singapore if the Singapore Govt decides to increase to the population to 6-7 million?
I wouldnt stake my life for a place where there is little difference between foreigners and locals. Singapore is one of the few uniques places where it has a large foreign workforce and yet relies on a reservist army from citizens to defend it.
If the population increases to 6-7 million in future, i am not ashamed to say i would flee Singapore in times of war. Why should i defend the assets of foreigners?
