Let me just say this in all fairness, don't ever mistake a man who dares to question the way NS is run for not having the balls to shoot that bullet in war.Some of them have far more guts and glory than mindless water-carriers in society. -
To be fair, I would put in this way. Talking about injuries or unfortunate death during training, everywhere also have. Regardless whether you are in SCDF, Navy, Police, Coastal Guard, Army, etc..
Cases in army is most common, that is because armed forces has the main bulk of service man in singapore.
Every trainings have their procedure of do, don't and limits. Minor injuries may be fall and bleed or dislocated. Major injuries may be likely planted or death.
The number of cases isn't that much in real facts, however, their parents and loved one will be very sad should thing happened to the serviceman.
For cases that death caused by training, I believed that it had been investigated and hopefully heavy punishment for those officers involved. Unfortunately, nothing can be done to bring back the life..that sad.
However, to discourage NS for those few cases may be bit act of extreme. To put more care during training and even removed those exercise or drills that can involve danger to life.
To defence a country is to shoot down all enemies crossing the lines of defences. As we are no attacking, hence maybe restrainted to dig fox-hole, aim, shoot, throw genade, take cover, escape may do. -
