STEP DOWN AS A LIVING LEGACY or CONTINUE IN POWER?

I think that it is time someone should step down & live a life of living legacy then to continue in office. Yes he is still can contribute here & there. He talks & people still respect & listen but he doesn't have to stay in office. People still respect him due to his achievements.
He can still contribute as a consultant. Advising the younger on the side line. Living out his legacy that he has built for himself. He should not hold on. By letting go I think he would be more respected than by holding on.
By holding on...would people think other wise? History will tell. -
He thinks he is doing that - contributing here and there. But others think otherwise, think he is contributing everywhere.

Yes, obviously everywhere...but don't u think he would gain more respect if he steps down & not interfere too much?

foreigner doesn't care if he's the SM, MM or just an old man. Some respect him, some don't.
his official appointment only affects Singaporeans and there's nothing anyone here can do about it. -
The mark of a great statesman is that he steps down officially when he should.

I respect our MM. To think that he worked so hard for singapore so many years. I think we had to agree that he is good. Without him, Singapore could not have been today. And only and sortly him can do it.
I only hope that he can stay on forever. -

It’s all about loosing "face" or at least his perception of it! After all these years of being number No. 1 in Singapore he just cannot settle to be an “ordinary citizen.” I guess its all about the fear!
I have great respect for MM and his contribution to Singapore but his staying on in power is giving me second thoughts.
If only he can emulate Nelson Mandela by stepping aside or retiring from politics his stature will be so much grander. -

What is wrong with him being a MM? He is still as wise as ever and his words are good and make sense!
What is wrong with remaining in politics? He is still healthy and able what. And not like it will do you guys any good if he steps down.,
