Instead of heehawing with speculations of the attitudes of the Thais towards Singaporeans, why not visit the various Thai newspapers that are so accessible on the web.

Subject : Present Political Problem
Read with much sadness that the present political problem have been link to the Singapore's purchasing of Thaksin company in Thailand by Temasak. Protest even brought them to Singapore Embassy.
Thailand opposition party must realise that this is strictly a commercial deal between 2 parties. Simple as that, 'You sell, I buy'.
This form of protest is costing Thailand million of dollars in tourist trade.
If the opposition is unhappy with the present system, then go in and VOTE Thaksin out in a DEMOCRATE way. You must realise that one cannot just push an elected Premier out just because you are not happy with him or having a personal conflict

Yang 14th .........Its not just as simple as "You sell .....I buy"..............Its all about the Thai prime minister selling a massive business involving the national security, then using his position(allegedly) to avoid paying tax on the transaction. If your prime minister did this i think you would be rather upset. The main problem seems to be that the opposition parties are trying to use it to gain power in an unconstitutional way.

Subject : Let the South Muslim to be the PM
The Muslims from the South should be appointed as PM. They have had already over hundreds in Bangkok to build up the situation. Thaksin gives strong political support to the Military and Police at the South. To remove Thaksin from the PM office, people at the border can come back to take over the battle field. The Democrats can never do anything about it. Because they won't have enough votes on the first place. Secondly, Democracy is Democrats' bible. They must agree to the demand of the South to be independent. Also, the Southern PM could work with the Malaysian govt for development. And so, with the global Islamic World support, the Democrat can become a big party afterall.

If Taksin in no good his would not majority support from the Thai. If a South Muslim politician is better than Taksin he shall be able to become the next PM when majority of the Thai voted for him. I do not mind if he/she is from what religion as long as he/she are able to have majority Thai support and are able to lead Thailand to be a better place.

I just don't understand why should the Thai people turn this beautiful country into such a dreadful sight. Some opaque politicians must be guilty of inciting even if PM Thaksin has a cause to it. They, perhaps should be charged as traitors. Slow down, Judas!
Don't force it into lynch mob, please!
I am a Malaysian.

Hi there,
I also hope Temasek or our government will withdraw from the ShinCorp deal. We want to keep a good relationship with the Thais. We can still do other businesses but not this big sensitive deal maybe.
What if your PM volunteer to pay tax, will the Thais forgive him ? But I think the main concern is the telecom ownership more than the tax itself. What if all the Thais buy back the shares, wow, then the Thai people will all own the telecom; it's also a good idea.
I feel sorry about what has happened & hope the political crisis'll be resolved soon.
May God Bless U,
Best Regards,
Dawn Loh

Hi Dawn, I'm, sure that Thais are not blaming Singapore for the current crisis, just trying to investigate and put an end to what Mr. Takin is up to. The Shin sale is just the tipping point; many people have had enough of his rampant corruption, handling of the problems in the South and the vigilante drug killings that shocked the international media. The truth is going to come out one way or the other. Best Wishes to you

Hey, thanks to our PM, not only do you own our monopolized telecom biz but also our airline. Soon you will probably inherit the entire country from our PM.

Is Shin Corp a stateowned enterprise?
Is it because Shin Corp had so much resale value that everyone in Thailand wants to claim a part of it? Want to influence it?
Shin Corp is a private own business which grew to enormous proportion over the years.
If any companies in Thailand, happen to grow and become very profitable, you will not be allow to sell, cos the public will tell you now your business is a National asset and you mush seek the wish of 63 million people in Thailand before you can sell.
The moral of the story: Don't grow your company to big, you cannot sell off cos it will automatically become the country's asset

What do the foreign investors learn from this kind of deal? Please do not do any business with Thai politicians, ever. They will finally bring big problems to your country. Just take my words for it!

you thai people are a lucky , you have a chance to vote. 4 me no oppositions no chance to vote. always vote wisely, you vote him into office for the 2nd term it is your choice. Do not remove him from office by protest, if not you will loose your voting rights forever. Just look at what happen to the Phillippines. Just look at what Mr. Thaksin does for your country, look at all the good and decide in the next election.

I wish to correct Onassis Gan assumption of the sitiuation in Bangkok. There are only peaceful protest seeking the resignation of Mr. Taksin and I am very sure no one would like these peaceful march to be turn into riot maybe except for some trouble maker like those causing trouble in the South who may use this protest to turn into riot. Mr. Taksin is still very much in control and any riot shall show his inability to control
