GST to increase soon?

GST is due for upward revision after election
Just a gentle reminder...........do save up.......
Any idea how to stop this inevitable policy? Or just accept it as fate........? -

GST was first introduced in Singapore on 1 April 1994. The GST rate was increased from 3% to 4% in 2003 and from 4% to 5% in 2004.
The GST is a 7 % tax on the supply of most goods and services in Canada. Canada is also subject to Harmonised Sales Tax (HST) at the rate of 15 per cent in three provinces - Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
UK is 17.5 % VAT (Their GST)
So with these figures, won't our tax people get some "inspiration" to match the figures.........so increase govt piggy bank..........so get high performance bonus for themselves -
I doubt so because it doesn't make sense as there are still many Singaporeans not doing well although they might raise it after elections to recoup their bonus distribution

It will be very touching when we hearing some daring representatives saying loud "cannot, cannot, cannot tahan". But at the end, mmmmm. The rest for your imagination.

Not new anyway. This have been circulating around us for sometime. Will not be surprise if really increase. Anyway, where got toad toad ppl every yr gives u $$$ to spent de.

With the huge amount of reserves that has been accumulated and transferred to GIC and Temasek Holdings - surely the profits generated from the invested Surplus and Reserves by these two Premier Companies should have been returned to the Singapore " National Account " and make it unnecessary for any GST increases ?
Can we stop GST from happening ?
SIMPLE - vote as many Opposition into Parliament to make any attempt to legislate any GST increases into an impasse.
The Opposition Members of Parliament could act as an alternative and parallel guardian to the incumbent Ruling Political Party.
It can truly be the SECOND KEY to protect our National Reserves, when the Office of the Elected President is made ineffective by the changes made to legislations affecting its position, and by the appointment of candidates closely associated with the Ruling Political Party. -

Simple equation follows.More voices, more chances of a scrutiny.Not everything the current ruling party says might be correct.

Singaporeans are not cooperative enough, so oppositions cant win at all. bonus is an election gimmick, i remember previous election, after 2 months, PUB increase, petrol increase, CC increase, come back to square one, better dont give bonus and also dont increase the price of essential item,

Then i figure we should be ready to be taxed heavily thru GST....
Look .... by global standards, out tax rates are pretty low. I of course am refeering to income tax. Thus to compensate for this low rate the gahmen has to think of ways to tax us implicitly. Hence, we have CESS, GST, COE, ERP,PAP, XXX. what ever lah.. one thing is for sure... we gotta PAY and PAY -
If they win all the seats what is there to stop them? Sporeans have to lower their pants soon.
