While writing my piece - on 26 March 2006 1.08pm - that suggest Singaporeans taking up a "Class Action" against the Ruling Political Party aka the Government, another thought came into my mind as to how the "fork tongue" will defend the "skewed mind".Originally posted by gill_hfc:there are many grounds to sue the government over Potong Pasir and Hougang. First of all PP and Hougang are not independent states or another world altogether. These are suburbs right here in singapore. Its residents are entitled to all the rights and benefits enshrined in the contituition and laws of singapore just like any other singaporean. For the government to deny their estates upgrades clearly goes against the constituition. Just because the MP is an opposition member does not mean they are not entitled to the benefits of being a singapore citizen. residents of PP and hougang pay taxes to the same government at the end of the day. where does it state in the constituition that it is illegal to have an opposition member as an MP?
i'm no lawyer but if there is a collective lawsuit by the residents of PP and Hougang in the high court, i am confident the residents would win against the government. if the case is thrown out take it to the international court of justice. It will make the government sit up and listen!![]()

Yes, it seems that they now realise that the upcoming Election will see a new generation of young and educated Singaporeans, who are tech-savvy, and perhaps have participated in many different on-line forums, and have read the many postings that support and lambasted the Ruling Political Party aka the present Government.Originally posted by charlize:You notice now the minsters are telling voters to vote NOT for the party's track record (which has quite a lot of horrendous blemishes in the past few years) but rather for the new young members coming in.
Suddenly, it is not about what they have done (or not done) for Singaporeans over the past few years.
It's like they themselves know their performance have not matched up to Singaporeans' expectations.

Most elderly people will not want to uproot and emigrate but they would want their children around them as well, especially if they are frail and sick. How can you just drop them and go?Originally posted by will4:I will not leave them behind but I also need to ask them whether they agreeable to join to migrate. decision. Another question why it is not an option for Sporean?

My folks have said they will not retire in Singapore. After all, our friends and relatives are mostly scattered around the world.Originally posted by stellazio:but they will miss all their friends..

Bak Ku Teh uses Bak Ku, can change to other things meh? Will be the same...only soup can be changed, material never changed. Can cook using chicken / duck / beef / mutton and tell you this is bak ku teh or no. Cannot rite..Originally posted by charlize:I have seriously no idea what your bak ku teh means.

yeah, its quite case by case. but sometimes, we have to just make the best of what is laid out in front of us.Originally posted by oxford mushroom:You are fortunate then...
That's not true for most Singaporeans with elderly parents. Most of them find it difficult to adapt when they don't speak the language, dislike the food and detest the cold climate, especially when they are removed from the support of friends and relatives.
