GCT said the govt would give upgrading projects to opp. wards if the ppl there want it.Well,most ppl want upgrading.Somemore, residents have to vote before upgrading.So the saying "if the ppl support upgrading then they would have it" is mere excuse not to give upgrading to opp. wards.It is a lie.Govt ,be fair!

How many ONE and TWO Room HDB dwellers have the opportunity to vote for their upgrading - like having a new lift to be installed that stop on every floor ?
Can the dwellers of ONE and TWO Room HDB units afford to share the cost of such upgrading works ?
Requiring the HDB residents "to vote for upgrading" was merely to take the sting out of the clamour for more space to participate on NATIONAL ISSUES that affect the Lives of Singaporeans.
The "vote for upgrading" is basically a mini-REFERENDUM - and prove that REFERENDUMS are not as expensive as the Ruling Political Party aka the Government has claimed in response to Singaporeans cry for the Minister's Salary to be place on the table for a National Referendum.
Other issues include the passing of legislations that curtailed our Rights that have been enshrined in the Constitution, the passing of legislations that affect our CPF Withdrawals, and the Management of our Reserves - these are amongst a whole list of issues that have been legislated against our Interests. -
If the voters support HDB upgrading,they would support PAP.If they don't vote for PAP,they don't support HDB upgrading.This is PAP's reasoning or someone's repeated lies?

GCT said there would be no estate upgrading if PAP didn't win the GE.The money for upgrading is not from PAP.If the opposition won the GE,what make him think the new govt can't implement estate upgrading?

hmm for those pple not in the 2 opposition wards, pls note that by promising to give them the upgrading, it also means he is saying that you place has less chance to be upgraded......

GCT said the opp. words would finally get estate upgrading.He said opp. wards could not be the first but might not be the last.So has he justified the govt policy on estate upgrading?Is he fair-minded?

If GCT is fair,he wouldn't have come out with such policy.
If voters vote for PAP and expect priority in estate upgrading,then the process become a bribery.Is this what the PAP want the voting to become?
The govt's money is public money.The govt wants to spend the money to favour a political party's supporters.Can such a principle be right? -

but most singaporean unfortunately tends to be selfish and put itself before country. but think again, are they wrong? election are times where voters hope to get more goodies and promises by their MP.
morally the ruling party is wrong but legally they are alright coz our constitution doesnt say it wrong. who know the rules better then the current ruling party. they wrote it, pass it in parliament and implement it.
dont just blame GCT even though he is the one that started linking upgrading with politics in view of dropping support for the ruling party in previous election. they won decisively in 1997 and 2001 using upgrading as a bait and singaporean bite it. LHL use it, but it work again in 2006.
to be frank, nowadays the ruling party has such great influence on every working mechanism(ministries, private sector) in singapore that even after these 40years, the fear factor still remain in every singaporean life.
who can we blame? the ruling party? it takes two to clap. -

If the citizens of a country start to think selfishly and put its own selfish interest before that of the country, and the National Leaders capitalize on this for their own selfish political gains - and accentuate it further with such narrow political baits offered - then we SHOULD PUT THE BLAME squarely on these National Leaders. -
Upgrading? I rather they give us the money for our need. Waste so much money on upgrading, some upgrade become worst than before or doesn't need it. Upgrade until the soil become unstable like nicole highway and some building near it started to have crack. Create individualism and materialistic, whereby pple nvr say upgrade benefit the public instead say the value of their own property will rise. Even have to co pay, not sure how much? Riveting is the example that cause a lot of trouble. Pay yourself, pay different price, and tell you to change the whole window.

Using public fund selfishly & unfairly, I think the ppl can sue the govt for wrong doing. -

i not sure i am right but i read from somewhere that our current consituition protect the govt from any legal lawsuit incase of any suspected wrong doing.
i hope some lawyer here or someone can verify this points.
PAP has drew and napier as their legal advisor. they know the rules of the game better than anyone of us.
i agree it dispicable to use upgrading to win votes. sad to say, it works for them. until they day when half of singaporean think like reyes, PRP, robertteh, Atobe, otherwise, financial incentives will and always work miracle here in singaporean.
PAP is smart, they know the statistics that 20% of singaporean family living on $800.00/mth. they know opposition will use it against them. So here come the progressive package, to sent a signal to lower income gp, vote for them or get nothing next time. but i still believe these 20% are mostly pro opposition. -
According to a reader of Today, GCT said Low Thia Khiang should press the govt for the fund for upgrading since it has been budgeted. But before the GE, the PAP candidate said the minister would support the upgrading programme if Eric Low were elected. I don't know which version is true.
If what GCT said after the GE is true,the govt will definitely do upgrading for Hougang if the SM tells Mah to do it.Where would be the need for LKT to press for it?
