- Raising the stakes – having 5 or more memb GRCs = theory that: selling 20 stick cig packs only in SG instead of 10stx pks will deprive young experimenters by making cigs unaffordable. (current law)
“*12 Number of cigarettes in package “ (http://statutes.agc.gov.sg/non_version/cgi-bin/cgi_retrieve.pl?&actno=Reved-309&date=latest&method=part ) "prescribed number of cigarettes" means — (a) 20 cigarettes, ……
BUT PAP used this same packaging theory to ALSO disadvantage the opposition bc they know tt the opposition are mostly small groups- not big, rich ‘behemoth’ PAP players…
So like cigarettesÂ… GRC has made elections a commodity --- ill-accessible to the common man.

http://www.sgforums.com/?action=thread_display&thread_id=183968- HDB should be an impartial body bc it uses national funds tt are contributed to by everybodyÂ… we are SingaporeÂ… one familyÂ… not PAP supporters vs. Opposition supportersÂ… all work for the good of SGÂ….. So all should have EQUAL access based on necessity to use national funds.

A Big Yes From Me ! Just by looking at how NKF SAGA being gone silence !
We should not talk about issues that will back fire, such as "COE, PARF, CIGARETTE, GRC, OPPOSITION, HDB UP-GRADING...etc..." because they're are too good to tell our Singaporean's that it is for our own good by good facts.
Let's narrow down to what that the Ministers had promised and make our clarifications further.. Persistence to get an satisfy answer until our peoples knows that who is the bad and who is the Ugly.
Scandals Exposure can only bring the Bad Leaders down, G.Bush will not help us because there is'nt any oil field in Singapore.
Can we have more leads to lift up all the covers ? Please help........
all i can say to this is expectations change with time and it is very reasonable and expect.Originally posted by oxford mushroom:Higher cost of living or is it because expectations of Singaporeans have risen?
30 years ago, when your child has a fever and cough, you go to the Chinese provision shop an buy some herbs, at most some antelope horn scrappings if you can afford it. Now, you rush to see a specialist.
30 years ago, to get from City Hall to Pasir Ris, you take a long, slow bus to the Tampinese area and share with 5 other passengers in a small volkswagen run by illegal taxi operators for the last leg of the journey. Now we get there cheaper in air-conditioned comfort but we still complain about the MRT train.
30 years ago, we live in crowded zinc-roofed buildings, draw water from a well and stare at the fishes below as we do our business over a river. Now we live in flats that are more spacious than our wealthier neighbours in Hong Kong.
Yes, costs have risen...but I dare say our expectations have risen much faster...
Please be more reasonable to those who are been refered by GP to see Specialist.Originally posted by oxford mushroom:Higher cost of living or is it because expectations of Singaporeans have risen?

Like he said. Sick = specialist.
and whats not. Rather than the rate of living actually rising i feel it is the WAY of living that people try to achieve. They earn 50$ they try to live like they earn 51$ then they blame the govt saying the standard of living is high.
I have a friend whos dad earns 2k a month. he has 3 siblings. They are surviving better than another friend of mine whose dad is a manager in a big firm earning a 5 digit salary every month. Why ? cause of their way of life.
you see eventually its not "standard of living rising" though yes it definitely has risen over the years. But which country hasn't ?
And you notice that the ones complaining are probably the general singaporeans who aren't that well to do. As the saying goes, the rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer. The more the poor tries to act rich, the poorer they get.

Don't worry... The "IMPACTS" would COME LATER.... SOON after the ELECTION....Originally posted by SG,LauBaiXing:Dearest will4,
I'm touched and greeted my deepest respect to the Lady CEO for being practical in her lifestyle in this small City State of Singapore.
Let me remind you that many Singaporeans had sold their car and took public transport for the sake of Costs and Causes.
Let's us live within our means and solve our own problems, the saying goes "Jia Jia Yo Ben Nan Nain De Jing" is really true !
But never continue in using the pay if you don't care type of counter measures to deal with problems that might affect the peoples lifestyle, Business Impact and mis-undestandings.
Shall we try looking to work good and effective Campaigns to motivate our peoples of the consequences, rather not just leave it to the economic impact of supply and demands.
Need more of your advises, please...............
EXPECTED...Originally posted by Medicated Oil:If you followed the media and press report, you will realised that the focus is on the changing of leaders and the upcoming candidates.
All is written on what they have "done" and yak yak yak.
But, throughout the two months of happy hand-shaking, not a single candidate dare to tackle the real problem of the people - HIGH LEVEL OF COSTING but instead focusing on the minute issue of wiping out the Opposition.
The ruling party is more keen of playing their cat and mouse game assuming by giving the "progress package" that the people will be happy.
It was funny that when the CPF issue was brought up during the dedate with the PM, it was flagged down immediately by a lackey within the audience without PM answering the query.
The debate is basically a wayang and did not address any real issues but just gave a show on the "openess" of the PM.
I believe that the best way to judge the cost of living is to look into the purchasing power of a dollar compare to now and to then. There is also a need to remember that the inflation rate of money per year is higher than that of the safety interest rate of the bank. This means that the money kept in the bank is constantly depreciating along with the purchasing power. With pay being stagnant for most worker and the price of goods increasing it can be concluded that the cost of living have risen considerably. However whether they have enough to spend depends largely on the person lifestyle.Originally posted by oxford mushroom:Higher cost of living or is it because expectations of Singaporeans have risen?
