Agree that is highly unlikely...but you can convict them if they do return to Singapore though.Originally posted by free thinker:Yeah true.
That is the government's problem. Not mine.
But honestly... The part about the offenders being escorted back... That is more like a fantasy instead of reality and it is very unlikely that it will ever happen.
Anyway cheers
I'm highly disturbed by the people here who would go to the extent of extra-territorial support of rendition.Originally posted by free thinker:Law... Will that law be legally binding in other countries? I do not think so...
For example that poor Australian guy that was hanged... He is an Australian but was under the mercy of Singapore Law because he is in Singapore territory and despite being a Australian citizen; the Australia's legal system and law would not have a binding effect.
Likewise if lets say a Singaporean is legally staying in Australia( maybe he has a Australian passport and citizenship by birth ) then he is under the mercy of the Australian legal system and the "law" from Singapore is not legally binding... Unless Singapore makes that Australia part of her own sovereign territory which to me, that is highly unlikely.
For the kind of laws in Spore and Australia.. many still prefer Australia.Originally posted by LazerLordz:I'm highly disturbed by the people here who would go to the extent of extra-territorial support of rendition.

My father generations were told by the old leaders that we're are small and vulnerable, and they had agreed with the leaders totally "if you want peace ? prepare for war ! "Originally posted by LazerLordz:dude, you're on crack and you're not making sense.![]()

I've served my 2.5 years NS with my father constant remider of "good son, please bear with your NS training, it is for our family and our Nation as a whole" I answered to my father "yes!dad, I know it is to prevent others to bully our country"
New Leaders should have much better motivation then the old leaders, if not as good as the old leader ? then, tell the peoples the old leader warning again and sent NS awol's to jail to serve many times longer than their NS.
Instead of talking about how much to fine the ignorant Singaporean and wasting so much resources.
Yes, there is a need for NS, but no need for a noose to force those who want to leave, back.Originally posted by Hellraiza:aiyah. the government sometimes also likes to make mountains out of molehills.
but seriously...its the government who understands the need of NS, a credible deterrent force, what have you....but not those people behind you at the queue at macdonalds, or the lady standing beside you on the bus, the list goes on

Give me 500 highly motivated soldiers than 2000 kengsters and bo-chup kias anyday.
