Thaksin made a mistake and paid off his position. Now without his official leadership, Thailand is going to suffer economically or socially. At present i don't think there is any leader who is as vibrant and popular as Thaksin.

Very unlikely for Thailand to build the canal. It's not about the money as Japan has offered to help. The political situation in the south is not stable. Either the canal will be destroyed before it's completed or the control be taken over by the extremists after it's completed. The majority of the Thais in the south has always wanted to break away to form a new nation, not unlike Bosnia or Chechnya.Originally posted by gd4u:I wonder if the new Thai government will re-consider the Kra Canal again. Very good project, but unlikely to go ahead.
