Candidates introduced born where?

A number of candidates for the election were introduced recently. Does anyone know where each of them was born? Although their names, qualifications, marital status, no. of children etc. were made known, there was nothing concerning their country of birth.

all i know is most of them are either 1. Independent School Students, 2. Lawyers, Doctors, CEOs, Accountants and 3. All said that they are non-conformist

You missed the point. You are right in that all our ancestors were immigrants but I would rather have a local born person representing me in parliament than someone who has relocated here in recent years for whatever reason. Yes there can be a problem. Say, for instance, the FT is formerly a malaysian, would he approve of policies that are good for Singapore but bad for Malaysia, bearing in mind that the rest of his family (father,mother, brothers etc) are still in Malaysia? -

and also truth is to most if not all you are not a true singaporean if you are not born here or raised here. which makes sense since there is always a suspicion that the ft will be more suspectible to being more sympathetic to the home country, or jsut here to make a quick buck and then while time away without real care for the country or pple. -

the local born who are ready to migrate anytime, you trust them?
any FT who have gained their singaporean citizenship is no longer an FT.
FT who gave up their old citizenships for singapore citizenships are certainly more trustworthy than those local born who are not prepared to stay on in singapore.
If you can't stand the former FT from standing for election, than come out and take them on as opposition!

An FT has forsaken his country of birth, what is there to stop him from packing up and going somewhere else when the going gets tough here.

We needed not to worry that he is not one of us because he does not serve the army. Can make him to contribute to our nation by paying poll tax or employment fee of $3000 per month will do. From the funding of the foreigner talent's tax or fee, we will help to care for our needed people here.

(They may be detained or prosecuted, I wouldn't wanted to speculate)
Hence, it's does not matter so much as long as you are a singaporean, cause you are likely to be called back to unit.
Unfortunately, such rules does not apply to foreigner migrant even when they become singaporean. Hence, they are still free to run because they will not be recalled for defence.
We welcome highly waged foreigner talent, we also wanted them to contribute to the progess of our nation. We would like them to lead infront by example when the need arises. -
FT or local no different. SG value meritocracy more than local born. Human resource is our only strength.
Thats why you see how hard the ruling party have more than anything built SG as very safe place to work in.
You have no talent then sorry. You are free to find a place more suitable for you. -
