What does grassroots commitee do?

Basically i only see them organising block parties, giving out the SARS Kits during SARS period ,pasting notices on notice boards and hanging decorations during national day . So what exactly they do other than these? I mean i do not even know who are these people... i'm asking out of curiosity. hope this has nothing to do with politics...

As its name implies, they take care of issues that are just grassroot deep.
Unlike trees, tree roots are far deeper.

They have to do the following tasks:
- Organise party and functions for Millionaire MPs and ungrateful peasants.
- Ensure that every thing is spick and span during all MPs visits.
- To be wear all white and surround MPs during photo-taking.
- Enjoy endless goodies. -

I stepped into grassroots years ago, and now have stepped out of it.
It is exactly what some of you mentioned here, grassroot leaders are merely runners for the MPs.
You do the work for them, MPs forget your name, but the MPs claim the credits for all the hard work you've done!
Grassroots org is part and parcel of the ruling regime's method to increase and guarantee themselves of a solid base of supporters. They dont play a part in decision making, and like I said are just unpaid servants for MPs!
