PAP's motto: serving the people. Are they really serving us?

Recently we can see the new candidates were being captured from the media, u can notice the PAP's motto behind them: Serving the people. Do you agree that PAP is really serving the people? What is your view?

f we are to go through the laws and businesses transacted in parliament over the past 40 years, I am sure we will find that most of the laws have been passed for the purpose of :
(1) tax or recover costs to the fullest market values
(2) controls of populations against paranoid fears about welfarism or disorders of society.
(3) to facilitate government going into businesses to compete with people's businesses
(4) controls and regulations at the expense of creating social and economic vibrancy for the country.
(5) gerrymandering of election processes of one kind or another without openness or accountability or proving of validity of assumptions made.
The government even passes laws and acts to reward themselves in the absence of opposition check and balance out of proportion to their true worth in the market place.
Are the government serving people's interests by solving various problems they are most concerned with e.g. high costs of living as against dropping wages or upgraded the economy to value-adding technology driven model or raised our standards of living to that of the Swiss as promised?
Are we being served by a caring and proactive people-centred government or a government which is overly concerned with their own control for their own good? -

they didnt say which group of people... the government and the ministers are people too..so technically you can't fault them for serving the "people" since they never said they were going to serve the general public or the poor

Basically i feel that to win an election either is to win to serve the people or just to win the power to rule over people. There are two kinds of people out there with two different kinds of intentions.

Well, I only know that since the last election, several elected MPs went to sleep (and let the people suffer) during most of the term and come alive (with some goodies to relieve the people's suffering and solicit for votes) during reelection.

End of the day, we should not really care too much if they serve us or not. The motto here is that we cannot be too reliant on the government. If they serve us and perform miracles, well and good. If not, then we have to be self-reliant and independent. No use complaining about this and that.....

I say, go elsewhere like me. At least in Canada I can have a quality life that SG'reans dream about. What's the point having a nice car and condo and yet struggle and be like one those 'new' poor. -

Let's fast forward into the future to the next election.
Will we see the same reasons that some MPs are stepping down because their "outside" professional job or business became more demanding that they no longer have the time to fulfill their MP job demands?
What has the MP job become? A highly-paid part-time job that really serves the MP's professional career?
