Were the young rude to MM?

I saw a clip on CNA that said the young people at the interview were rude & disrespectful to the MM and it will be shown on this thur. Were they, do you think so? Or they were just doing their job?

You should watch the whole dialogue. Then you will realise MM was domineering the whole conversation. He thought he knew what they were saying and cut them halfway, and ended up that the youth's questions weren't answered.

from the trailers, it would seem the lau lee was rude to the young people...
his cutting them off and interrupting showed a contempt for the youths..
listen to them, allow them to voice their concerns.. show some respect! -

First of all, you gotta consider the position of MM vs the youths. The MM is a man of accomplishment and have a track record of serving humanity. The youths are not all that so obviously, when they speak they lack weight and easily come across as being rude. Of course they could do better, by doing simple things like, "Sir, I thank you for having the courage to have this discussion with us and putting yourself in the firing line *smiles* and it's a great pleasure to be speaking to you. So... my question is... " I guess a little courtesy will help abit. Speaking with VIP needs to be tactful. I never watch the show, only got a 10 mins glimpse halfway into the show while having dinner.

IF, nobody here is saying that the young interviewers were rude to him, then who do you think is suggesting that they were rude in the first place??

Not say "rude", but then both sides shall always obey basic manners such as not interupting when a person is talking, be tactful and respectful yet remaining firm.
But then again, our MM is a lawyer by training. Peharps he was taught that way. -
I saw that clip, and watched it over TV as well. I didn't think anyone was rude. If there was, i think it would have been the young ones. I mean you are talking to the "founding father" of singapore. At least choose your choice of words correctly and speak like you are asking, probing. Not sound like you are challenging him. Which was what some of them are doing. They seem to enjoy the bickering with him, and think they could make him eat his words. Trying to be in the spotlight no less.
Touching on what they discussed on that show, i think there was nothing else to argue as soon as MM Lee said that no government or organisation would make it fair and bring down barriers to level the playing field. It's quite true isn't it?
If not why is microsoft and suns fighting it out in court? Why does creative need to patent it's technology against Apple? -

The show started out prim and proper until it started to sound and feel like a debate when the emotions of the young ones escalated. Some of them were trying to get more 'air-time' Not all, but some, look more interested in getting their faces on TV debating with MM Lee than the original intent of the show.
I think MM Lee started to dominate the discussions after they were shooting him from left, right and center. And that came across as arrogant, rude, dismissive and what have you.
Anyway, i'm on the youth side! I just thought it would be a more productive show if there were lesser but more qualified youths on our side. They don't even look united to me. -
i do not mean each person.. i mean he owes his country..
and the youth represent the future of his country.. the country.. OUR country..
if he is dismissive and looks at them with contempt, treats them with derision and puts them down without listening to their worries, he's lost his right to lead, he's forgotten what it means to be a normal citizen..
by the way, as a "democracy", the youths were doing the right thing.. and that is to take their politicians, their leaders, the people in power, to task... that is the duty and responsibility of the citizenry of a mature people...
besides, everyone knows... if the leaders are not taken to task, TT Durai and NKF happens -
