Should we go back to the old days?

  Was thinking why not get those consumer goods (Be it manufacturers of toiletries, drinks or foodstuff) to manufacture their products in Singapore?
  
  I mean you can see there's lots of empty land left at Jurong for so many years.. Furthermore, these days many of these are operated by machinery. Eventually, jobs would be created

  Singaporeans willing to work for $500 a month? Manufacturers can find workers who would work for even less in China and Bangladesh..

  Actually if Kimbery Clark could move its diapers manufacturing operations from Johor to Singapore 2 years back, I think there's a chance
  
  Yes, though we can't complete with Malaysia or Thailand (The nearest compeitiors), we have a lower import tarrif (To import items for processing) compared to Malaysia though I would say land and wages makes us at a disadvantage
