Any MP or Ministers living in HDB flats?

I'm not a PAP or oppoisition supporter. However, I've noticed the unfairness of the press reports on the opposition parties. The Starits Times has been listing out the profiles of the opposition candidates and I noticed all the opposition cadidates are shown to be living in HDB flats. I don't recall the press asking any of the new PAP candidates where they live or what sort of housing they live in.
Why belittle opposition candidates by stating that each one lives in HDB flats? Is the press afraid to show that MP and Ministers live in condo's and multimillion $ landed properties since they earn huge salaries compared to their opposition counterparts??

yes i think some of they do but most do not since they are say to be the best of what the PAP can get, the best have brains and money so why shld they torture themselve and live in HDB.

I would think that these candidates are closer to me since i am also an average singaporean living in a hdb flat. I believe they would understand my needs better and serve the average singaporeans better. -

Yes there should be PAP MPs living in HDB flats.
Last year the ST ran an article about Ong Ah Heng of Nee Soon Central, and it revealed that he stays in a 4-room flat with his mother.
Probably the only one out of the 84 MPs. -
ang mo seng also stay in hdb, but now moves to landed.

No MP will understand how a normal HDB living singaporean feel or face in their daily life. None of them stayed in one, maybe they used to stay but after becoming a MP they upgrade, 10K plus per month of course can lah! Thats why they need the Grassroot leaders to inform or update them on all pressing issues.

The MPs and Ministers can not be living with the peasants which are not the ELITE.
They need their privacy to map out the National Policy.
They need a quality home to rest.
They need to drive a car to maintain their image.
If they live in a HDB, they would be downgraded.
With the salary that they are earning, they should not be fighting for a living space with the peasants.
Lastly, they need to mingle with the Elite of the Society to show their class. -

with allowance of 11k per month on top of their day job, i think it might be difficult to resist temptation to move out of HDB.
Anyway.. why do they need 11k allowance?
they got no driver,
their travel to and from Parliament shouldn't cost more than $1000/month
MP need not go overseas
They do have an assistant.. but i think it's paid by parliament...
so how to justify 11k? -
Looks like some ppl haven't been reading the papers. There were WP members like Sylvia Lim living in landed property. Likewise several of the PAP New Faces were clearly indicated to live in HDB.
Either way, it really makes no difference where the MPs live or not- what matters is where the MINISTER lives. And you can count on an amputee's hand how many do. -

I recall that at least three of the recently introduced WP candidates, including chairperson Sylvia Lim, live in condominiums.
But seriously, I don't think it's important whether candidates or MPs or ministers live in HDB or private property. What matters is the heart. One can live in a HDB flat and yet not be aware of his neighbours, while another can live on a private estate and yet be connected to the heartlands. -
