Best? That bus 151 that goes to NUS cuts thru his area, yet for so many yrs, still out of 10 buses, 8 is non aircon...Originally posted by dakkon_blackblade:Low Thia Kiang is one of, if not, the best opposition MPs in Singapore. He is much more respectable than Chee Soon Juan. It's a pity that opposition parties have difficulty attracting more people like him.

Wah, My dearest MM Lee got respond liao ah. So fast and efficient! Just like the old ginger he is. Trying to belittle WP eh. say they street fighter some more.
SINGAPORE : Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew has rebutted criticism by Workers' Party chief Low Thia Khiang that the People's Action Party is not a First World government.
In a statement issued by his press secretary, Mr Lee said that if the PAP did not have the capabilities of a First World government, Singapore would not have risen up to the First World standards, as measured by the World Bank, the World Economic Forum, the International Institute for Management Development and Transparency International.
In his statement, Mr Lee also reiterated that the PAP would respond at the level the opposition chooses to fight for votes.
Mr Lee said that when the Workers' Party was headed by JB Jeyaretnam, it "played by the standards of street fighters".
So the PAP had to respond in kind, said the Minister Mentor.
Mr Lee said, "The Workers' Party under Low Thia Khiang must take this opportunity having got rid of Jeyaretnam to begin the process of getting the WP to First World standards."
Responding to this, the WP has made the issue of a First World government a key platform of their election campaign.
The two other key issues are accountability and hope for the future, although the party declined to elaborate.
Responding to Mr Lee, WorkersÂ’ Party Chairman Sylvia Lim said there is more to being a First World nation than economic rankings.
She claims Singaporeans score poorly when it comes to happiness.
Said Ms Lim, "It's good for us to examine why they're not happy. Is it because there are things they worry about daily? I think that as far as the government is concerned they should try and give people a life which they find meaningful, so there is some concern on that front as well." - CNA /ct

No wait.Originally posted by Atobe:It was never any Singaporean's idea that Singapore was a FIRST WORLD COUNTRY but only that of LKY - as declared in his own memoirs - "From Third World to the First"
Is it amazing that for one recognised to be a member of their First World, and his own proclamation to be one, the POWER OF ONE should resort to THIRD WORLD POLITICS to silence any opposition voice ?
Is Singapore truly a First World State, or a mere illusion of the First World glass and concrete - managed by policy makers with a Third World Mentality, using Third World strategies and manipulations to gain all the controls that they can garner for themselves to have a strong Third World Grip on this dangerously illusionary First World in a Third World setting ?
Must say 'cos his place not PAP wadOriginally posted by sbst275:I dun take the bus, but if he's good, he should rake this bus
Dun forget, 151 used to be a Fully Aircon service in the days when Govt imposed quota on number of aircon buses SBS could have
Lower fares? No more non aircon stamps on sale, so the students buy aircon stamp yet gets non aircon buses
This service I suspect is the most special, bus also can be overloaded during off peak hrs

We THINK we are first world.
We THINK we are the best (in most fields)
We THINK we are a cosmopolitan society.
But are we really? Look not at the landscapes of those in power, but rather those of the common people
Singapore has a first world Government that hasNot very much different from African governments.
a Third World mentality
did you complain to MP in meet the MP?Originally posted by sbst275:Best? That bus 151 that goes to NUS cuts thru his area, yet for so many yrs, still out of 10 buses, 8 is non aircon...
It will change if the following headline appeared on the front page of the Straits Times during election period:Originally posted by Redblood:did you complain to MP in meet the MP?
did you write to SBS/LTA etc?
but even if you did (like public outcry over fare hike), DO YOU THINK IT WILL CHANGE??
was it the Bus Plus service? that is the extension of svc 921 along Petir Road extension.Originally posted by BaByBoY:hmm..
actually i cant agree more with him...
today at my gf`s house..
suddenly got BUS service!!!
WTF! not that it`s not gd
but the LRT system was supposed to be `enough` for the residents..
well the `enough` was forced upon the residents as there were no other means of public transport into the area. yet, when the elections are about to come, then u`ll see them trying to saka the ppl in hope for buying some votes and support.. if this had been down way b4 the elections were announced i`ll give a thumbs up for PAP.. but clearly, it`s just a lousy last min effort from the PAP to salvage their votes.. perhaps it`s meant to be a threat to the residents. Anyway I believe that upgrading and facilities should be made avaliable for all towns and not be an issue for election. this is just foul play..
well the area that i mention is bikit panjang for the concerned ppl..
and yes it`s been there for 3 days...
the bustops are non sheltered and only marked out by a yellow box and a traditional pole..
who knows that they may take away the service after the elections?
LOOKS SO FAKE !
