In a democatic country, I must respect the voters selection. However, Prof Jayakumar would commit himself to serve singapore further even no as elected MPs (touchwood) but as a appointed SM to serve singapore and create wealth for singaporean. He is still young and with great thinking, definitely wouldn't leave us when he can still contribute to singapore. I believe Madam Prof Jayakumar will understand that.

He is still able to contribute and besides he is definitely younger than MM. We cannot force any elected MPs to step down in a democratic society. However, we can learnt to keep the talents even if they can still contribute to this nation like MM. Else how to have a First World Standard Country, you mean First World Standard Country can be built by very young people only? Chinese saying "Ginger is old one hot" never heard of new ginger hot..

1) I think you mean "if they can contribute to this nation". But as always, I wonder at your fascination for the MM or SM role? Is it really necessary? Other developed countries like UK and NZ don't have these, and they still function well. And it's not tt MPs in those countries are very young either. But even if we weren't benchmarking against these countries, or if we sought to improve the model of democracy, I don't see much value in having SMs or MMs, especially if these are going to be positions not necessarily filled by elected leaders i.e. positions granted to elderly statesmen by default. In fact, they might be an impediment to progress, especially if they are over-cautious and afraid of change, or fail to recognize new circumstances. LKY unfortunately is falling into the latter category. His dogged insistence that the young will change their mindset as they are shaped by experience is - with no intention of rudeness - a delusion. Whatever he wishes, the young will never experience WWII or the Maria Hertogh Riots again. Even if there are to be fresh riots in the future, they will take place in vastly different conditions and probably in vastly different forms.
2) So do I. But PAP not necessarily equal First World Standard, and neither is MM or SM.

These include their political donation certificate.
For candidates like Singapore Democratic Alliance's Abdul Rahman, it is his minority candidate certificate.
But WP's James Gomez says he has not received his minority candidate certificate.
He claims he submitted his application on Monday, but the Election Department says it has no record of his application.
But this may not matter.
The WP is only eyeing one GRC which requires an Indian candidate - Ang Mo Kio GRC.

Thanks everyone, now I know for sure PAP is denied a walkover government and well Mr. Gomez is leading his team to contest in our AMK GRC arena, that's great! though I really wish Ms Sylvia & her worker Party should be a better challenge..but all said I am very happy and sure hope the people of AMK will choose their candidates !..
carefully bearing in mind that this election is the PEOPLE versus the PAP
since we have being denied the votes for so many hapteem years...
