I think it's a good idea. Kinda like the milk carton campaign in the United States
Anyway I always see empty ad space on the MRT and Buses so what's wrong with them letting the organisation have some space.
LTA is really the most CMI Stat board in SG. Must be overflowing with civil serpents errr servants with a huge King Cobra sitting at the top -
LTA, like the rest of the government and their friends and families, are only about the $$$$$$. Nothing else. SMRT and SBS will never let them use the space without making them pay. I never been to US so I don't know what is happening there.. Buy me air ticket, I go there then come back and tell you..
You meant empty space on MRT must be used for this kind of purposes or all type of purposes. Hear of "I can, You can, Everyone Can!!". If they allowed one precedence, more will likely to follow and even more valid reason. Charity, Donation, RoadShow and so all...when to end?. I haven't mentioned salon, missing pet, lost and found, boy searching girls etc and etc..loan shark+++
Think of better solution, else may propose to PM and see what solution our government can provide. Surely, they cared about living singaporean..

You know longer have to be physically in a country to know what is happening there.
If you read carefully I meant the empty ad space which is not used at the moment which they give for this project. No one is asking them for the whole train or every train or even the whole fleet of buses etc but a few which can reach out to the masses.
We are talking about a social service and not for free advertisements like the examples you quoted. Sure if the loanshark wants to pay or you want to pay the space for your missing pet, go for it. I'm sure LTA would be happy to earn your $$. We're also not talking about soliciting for some Charity Drive etc but to appeal to the public to look out for missing people.
As well, even if they wanted to give some free space, they can have some form of adopted Charity for the month/tri-monthly/year whatever if they don't want to concentrate on just one Non-Profit Organisation.

Just like when serviceman go to landed estates, when they knocked at the rich man door..the maid will answer but refuse entry for most of the servicemen..Only when the master is around, maybe they may let you in (when they didn't call for you)
When I talk to people on pure business..I looked for the one that can make the final decision and no the one serving tea.
Hence, to solve the problem..ask the master to advise if he can't solve and never go to the servant. -

LTA is a department of Singapore Inc which is in charge of anything pertaining to transportation issues or use of their space etc.
This is not even a major issue. It's about free advertisements. It's like saying you need to go to Mr Bill Gates to ask if their supplier/customer/whatever can place a free ad on some of their software boxes. If the CEO or our Mr Prime Minister have to decide on these minor issues our country is in MAJOR trouble.
The customer makes a proposal to your company, as the executive in the department in-charge of the issue, you will have to make proposals to the management first and the management will have to decide. If management cannot decide then they bring it up in their management meeting to discuss.
Basically what is happening now is that it is likely the executive don't want to make a recommandation and it's easier to say no then to propose to management why it is a good idea, $ aside. Anyway if this is a major issue I would agree go direct to the boss, but this is more of a value added social service which is not essential. Good to have but can live without which is not necessary to go direct. Anyway this can be handled just by the head of department
