We don't look down on poorer people. On the contrary, I empathize more with them as I was once very poor.
With all the asisistance schemes by our government, the poors will be assisted. Look at how the work progress package has helped many families.
We have good leaders in the governmnet and we should appreciate their efforts and sacrifices that they have made.
Look at Singapore development over the last 40 years. It is super impressive! -

When u mentioned about poor people, I went back to Indonesia n travelled from Jakarta to Surabaya by vehicle. Throughout the entire journey, the village still in bad condition although people can have a roof or makan their daily meal. TB or diarahea still caused many infant to die. Nobody to turned to. -

Stop with the last 40 years bollocks. An election is a review of how the Govt has done over the past 4-5 years. What have they done? Unemployment's UP for Singaporeans. Cost of Living is UP. Income is DOWN. What sacrifices have they made? Do the MPs resign their full-time job like the opposition to fully concentrate on the GRCs? NO! So tell me who sacrifices more. Opposition or PAP? If we have opposition as MPs, I'm sure they'll be better, going by your criteria of good MPs.
Yes, you probably have got it good somehow through the system. It's not that hard to fathom, actually. But when you have the majority of Singaporeans getting oppressed and rejected by this awful machinery, this is the backlash the PAP will get.

For your information, umemployment rate has gone DOWN. Cost of living going up is due to the effect of globalisation. This is an unavoidable situation unless u want Singapore to lag behind the other developed countries. And lastly, I dont understand why people blame low income on the government also. Why do people just blame everything on the government? Singapore is not made up of 100% government companies, so the government does not control your income. There are so many MNCs around. Your income is determined by your personal working ability and qualifications. Do not blame it on the government. As for low income. I'll tell you why we can blame the government.
They pay foreign students and deprive locals to study in our local institutions. After which these foreigners steal our places in the working world because they have already signed a bond with the government to work here. Of course the govt will make sure they have work so they can pay back the money right?? Who gets richer? Government.
Tertiary education in Singapore gets you a much lower salary than other countries. Is it not the PAP's fault they could not transform Singapore fully into a KBE and attract foreign investors so that we can have better jobs for the highly educated ones?
The PAP have FAILED us! -

Next, regarding your argument for low income, you blame the government for letting in foreigners? If you truly have the capabilty, you shouldnt be afraid of foreign competitors. A lot of MNCs are paying lots of money to capable Singaporeans too. On the other hand, if the government over-protects Singapore by not letting in foreigners, do you think that the Singapore market can survive globalisation? Our market is too small for stand-alone operation. We need a global market to remain competitive. Think of the big picture my friends. -

I am not afraid of foreign competitors. My question to you is: Why does the government give them perks to study here and work here when locals can do an equally good job. Do you know that locals here who may score higher than foreign talent are denied a place because the tertiary instituitions reserve places for foreign students even before results are known? Is this fair to you?
We are using different platforms to judge unemployment. I'm using the Pre-1997 yardstick. Why should we use an unreasonable yardstick that suits the PAP? PAP says people are happy. To me happy is pre 1997 recession. And did you know that less than 50% of the employed workers last year were locals? Are you telling me that we are less able? We are less educated? And why are places reserved for them? Reports abound of young singaporeans who cannot get places in NUS/NTU and manage to get into pretigious Ivy League Universities. Do you still think we are incapable people?
Let me put the cost of living issue this way. Do you think the cost of living in Singapore could easily be lowered without unnecessary taxes from the govt? If they didn't pay ridiculous wages for themselves, do you think we would have 4% gst instead of 5%? They raise our cpf draw-out age because they hope we die before then! Is that what you want? For feck's sake.. It's your own hard earned money!

Are you trying to imply that to have a global market, we need foreign talent to steal jobs from capable singaporeans? To steal places in education from more than capable Singaporeans? I tell you something. Instead of stealing jobs from us, why not attract BIGGER foreign businesses to invest in Singapore? I'm fine with foreign talent in places more capable than us. But the GOVERNMENT, or rather, the PAP is cultivating a Foreign Talent policy that robs equally or more capable Singaporeans of jobs and degrees. -
