in other words all you're saying is that the good old NRIC should suffice which i think is a very good point. what i didn't understand is, why you need to bring in so much grandmother story just to illustrate that simple one liner.Originally posted by king108:Singapore is 1st world standard country. !st world standard country will have 1st world standard IT system. Can understand now. I alway thought you are clever enough...I really drop my spectacle this time..
i'm pretty confident no GRCs would fall. way before the elections started, i already said opposition should focus their firepower on single seat wards. so i was quite disappointed to see solid contestants like Sylvia Lim and Chia Ti Lik contesting in GRCs ...Originally posted by Archie_boy:Was watching the replay over and over again and noticed that while Gomez filled the form, Sylvia Lim was next to him. Then while Sylvia was not anywhere around, Gomez kept the form in his bag. Co-incident or is Gomez honest? Perhaps MM was right about Gomes...
While the election dept staff watched Gomez filled the form and did not submit, why didn't they asked for it on the spot? Why was the CCTV there?
It seem that Gomez always have problems with form submission, same as the last GE. Hmmmm... how strange?
Second issue
I think it's game over for Aljunied GRC. MM had challenged LTK to sue him for calling JG a liar before polling day. Failure to do so means WP does not dispute that JG is a liar. So after the count, if WP win, MM or PAP is going to dispute the results as WP agrees that JG is a liar and therefore had mislead the voters. However, if PAP wins, no issue.
If WP drop JG before polling day, even if WP wins the count, the PAP will bring the issue to court and dispute that there is no minority representation or 4 MPs is not allowed for 5 seats. The court will then have to make a decision. Perhaps a by-election will be called. Either way WP lose. If WP sue PAP, they will then prove that JG as a liar. So is JG honest? It's a BIG QUESTION. You decide......
Sembawang also game over. Chee Siok Chin will be sued for dafamation, made a bankrupt even if she wins. So I suggest the focus should be on the other GRCs.
So did you really meet the police or imposters, remember it was late night? One question and they were angered? Or did you prove that the police were not gangsters?Originally posted by snow leopard:many years ago i was running home late at night when i was stopped by the police. i asked a simple, innocent question: "have i violated any laws?". that innocent question angered the police and five or six of them surrounded me and started interrogating me. one of them even said in typical gangster fashion "you die also you won't know what happened to you". from this statement, can i infer that the police has connections with gangsters or they themselves are gangsters, or they can manipulate the law to incriminate me in any way they deem fit, or the chief commisioner, the minister of home affairs ... are all a part of this? come on, this is becoming so chilishly ridiculous ...

most plausibly, Gomez was trying to bluff PAP into thinking he will be contesting AMK, perhaps with the hope of luring some better PAP candidates away from Aljunied towards AMK. a silly gimmick no doubt but a little far fetched to infer that he is attempting to discredit the electoral process.

Yet i must admit this elections is the best time for WP to determine whether all their hardwork over the past years have amounted to sufficient votes to capture a GRC.
GRCs are certainly vulnerable, not the least Yeo Cheow Tong for his series of blunders while being transport minister. Too bad the WP did not walk the ground at Hong Kah else that would certainly be another potential danger ground for the Ruling Party.
On your account of being 'interrogated' by the police, i can only surmise that in numbers and wearing that blue uniform, the home team think they are above the law.
You snap remark about whether you had 'broken the law' only fuelled their emotional tandrems, tentamount to questioning their authority.
But i will say in no uncertain terms that the WP have played their cards well for this election. My only regret is that they didn't field Chia Ti Lik, Tan Wui-hua and Tan Bin Seng together with Sylvia Lim and Mohd Rahizan. I guess they wanted to spread out their chances of winning Joo Chiat Central and possibly also threaten the East Coast slate.
Hope is always a good thing, and hope that they spring a surprise by wresting a GRC from the Ruling Party will indicate a job well done.
And should they win, with the quality they have brought in, there is no doubt in my mind that they will put in good show, just like Hougang.
precisely, one innocent question is enough to piss them off and they are definitely policemen coz gangsters don't go around in full police uniform or drive police cars. furthermore, i got confirmation from their chief as a letter of apology ...Originally posted by Archie_boy:So did you really meet the police or imposters, remember it was late night? Don't accuse the police!! They are highly professional law enforcer. If the rioters are real then prosecute them and have them punished for creating public disorder.Originally posted by Archie_boy:So did you really meet the police or imposters, remember it was late night? some of the things ministers say are really damn stupid. i wonder if they realise how stupid they sound on national TV.
Ng Eng Heng said:
1. Can the opposition bring down price of oil?
so what if the opposition can't? the PAP also cannot bring down oil prices. that being the case can we say it doesn't matter whether we have PAP or opposition, since they're the same?
2. Can opposition prevent factories from pulling out of singapore?
but factories did pull out en masse to china in the 90s right under the very noses of the PAP.
3. Can oppostion bring down price of coffee?
PAP just increased the price of coffee only a couple of months ago.
isn't it damn stupid to accuse the opposition of not being able to offer what the PAP also cannot offer?
lastly, Ng Eng Heng also belittled the Workers Party as the "Wayang" Party. anybody can play with words. since the PAP likes to smear everyone else, we can also call the PAP tactics - the "PAP smear test" ...
