Not blackmailing. Its bribery. And i guess for people who dont know any better about the government's dirty politics or the desperate-poor for whom survival is a daily exercise, they would feel grateful and guess who they'd vote for becos they got this yearly ang-pow reminder?Originally posted by Gazelle:I think the PAP ministers are the pathetic. a) Progress Package
What progress are they taking about? Are they going to continue giving out ang pao every year from now on, or is this just an expensive PR event by PAP?
b) Is this black mailing or what?
I think PAP needs to come out with more interesting things than to keep talking about HDB upgrading? I believe the younger generation of people are no longer interested to be upgraded from one HDB to another HDB. What we need today is to be given more opportunity to progress so that we can upgrade to private and landed property just like what our minister and their family chain is enjoying right now.Originally posted by expiringpoet:Not blackmailing. a(i) Singapore had managed to achieve economic surpluses in the fiscal year as a result of good governance policies which lured investments. I am glad that the government shared the economic fruitation with its citizens.
(ii)
(iii) Refer to a(i)
b) Is this black mailing or what?

Two mega oil projects hinge on polls: PM He urges voters to send the right signal as political risks will count in Shell, ExxonMobil's decisions
(i) What political risk are we talking about? (ii) Is he implying that by having a few more seats for the opposition party, Shell and Exxon will change billion dollar investment? So what if they do? (iii) is the OIL money so important that we should all shut up and not have a voice?
b(i) Political stability is one of the attributing factor that attracts MNCs to invest and set up in any country of choice.
(ii) Refer to b(i)
(iii) Jobs, Jobs and More Jobs are of course more important for ordinary citizens like myself.

If singapore wants to provide low cost housing for Singaporean, then why is our government charging so much for the land which belongs to Singaporean?

Should we sympathise with those who are blackmailed? Or rather, is that anything new? What other democracy on this planet empowers a party to make use of taxpayers' money to 'buy' votes(think upgrading which started in '97 to your Progress Package this time around)? And what other electorate on this planet allow themselves to be blackmailed?Originally posted by Gazelle:Is this black mailing or what?

I think Singaporeans will trust PAP more if we have more opposition party isnt it?
PAP will always try their best avoid the question about cost of living. I wont be sure that right after the GE, PM Lee will head back to the ministry of finance to check what is their total deficit from the GE, and then he will start to ask his generals and soldiers to come up with recovery plans. Whoever come out with the best plan will get peanuts as rewards.Originally posted by macjoe:I've yet to hear from both sides (the First-class and No-class candidates) how will rising oil prices impact business costs and prices on consumer goods, electricity, utilities, transport, etc.

And so if PAP wins the election with overwhelming results like 1988 then waht happen.. all sporean will get hun-tam. esp. bloggers who said PAP is so bad..so U think we will go to jail and fined?..I'm broke..but I saw ppl queue-ing up at old AMK POSB jsut to get their cash or topping up? why are we so stupid?Originally posted by Gazelle:PAP will always try their best avoid the question about cost of living.
