The latest unemployment estimate was around 2.6% or (3.4% for Singapore resident). However....
According to Singapore trade statistic, Singapore overall population has grew by 2.6% or 111,100 in 2005. Consider the declining birth rate in Singapore, the only reason for this increase will have to be foreign talents and PRs, and majority will be here with a job.
Hence in absolute terms, i believe there might still be a significant of Singaporeans that is still unemployed despite the economic recovery.
What do you think?
Lethargic@@
Still remember the employment statistics?
If i am not wrong, the statistics included those FTs and PRs (irregardless of the job they are doing ), that's why we have such a high employment rate in sg

i spoke to my neighbour, a malaysian PR.
she only managed to find a contract job for 3 months as a production operator. jobs are hard to come by.
afaik, factories offer jobs to foreigners on a contract basis. i,e, most come into singapore with a job already in hand.
