I am wondering why Election issues in Singapore is regarding HDB, lifts stopping in everyfloor, you don't get upgrade if you don't vote.
Why isn't it about more complex issue like...
a streamlined Tax structure,
a more liberal duty and excise.
a welfare and social benefits (not a very big topic)
on how Singapore can better foriegn ties.
Singapore's foreign investment policies.
how singapore can attract investors.
It just makes it seem that Singaporeans only care about the ceiling that is over them and not care anything else about what singaproe does.
You may have an upgraded HDB, but you end up paying high GST and personal tax or less social benefits because funds are directed to upgrade our house.
What say you all?
Although I do encourage fellow Singaporeans to be more political awared, however, for the whole of population to induce in politics at national level is pretty dangerous I afraid. A double edged sword here. It can either unite us OR divide us. In such a case scenerio it is better to enforce a boundary of laws to ensure responsible speeches make by anyone ie lesses freedom of speech in compensation for more socialty order. Vice versa.Originally posted by LazerLordz:the critical mass for most of the population to discuss more complex issues is not enough yet.
those who can discuss them, don't have enough volume to effect meaningful impact.
Put it this way, for the majority of the population to be able to discuss such complex issues, we'd have a nation of academics.Originally posted by TooFree:Although I do encourage fellow Singaporeans to be more political awared, however, for the whole of population to induce in politics at national level is pretty dangerous I afraid.
