There is nothing wrong with the government. Most decision made are rather right. maybe for a few. The HDB prices is this way to protect the private sector. Government purposefully market the price nearer to the market rate.
But been an absolute government is a time bomb. They could have done things wrong and cover it up totally and no one can find our or challenged against the government. Therefore there is a need for a certain amount of opposition in the paliment to reflect our voice or monitor to make the government better. Unlike PM Lee had said that the opposition will make him worry how to do his job. The opposition will in fact instead make he do his job better so he can be accountable to the the people. -
Most of the issues will remain unanswered even after the general elections is over.
The problem with our people is a distinct lack of maturity, an inability to vote for what's right.
The Ruling Party may have brought us this far, but their lack of creativity, stagnated leadership and high-handed approach to numerous national issues smacks of weak political strengths, at a time when people are becoming more educated and less reliant on govt goodies.
After the stepping down of LKY, the best thing that has happened is the leadership of a people's PM in GCT. He brought us closer as one, appealed to the people to see past the arrogance of the ruling party. His popularity at the polls is also a testament to his character: 75% overall standing and the lowest opposition winning margins.
Now, it's back to the son of LKY. And it seems the father is still very energetic, energetic at being his typical schoolboy bully-self and roughing up opposition candidates with words and defamation suits.
He claims he has a right to defend his reputation, but after the NKF saga was exposed, how credible is a defamation defence if you do not have deep pockets or political connections to defend oneself?
The comparisons between the NKF and ruling party are REAL. Many lessons can be learnt from the debacle. The Ruling Party refused to allow such issues to be brought up at the general elections, so they distracted everyone with the james gomez sideshow, and even now are applying pressure and squeezing the air gomez is breathing.
What the ruling party has is scraps and pieced-together photos and videos, all of which merely indicate a proud man making a stupendous blunder. One which he as apologised for on live TV at a packed rally. Again, this was omitted from broadcast.
In short, they have NOTHING.
But their continued insistence on pursuing the case is indicative of what the Ruling Party has now become: Vindictive and abusive. -

Like I said, the PAP rules by fear not by respect. All over I hear people voting for PAP coz they are afraid their votes can be traced.
PAP has been seen as a party made up of petty people whom fire lawsuits for even the slightest of issues. How can you gain respect if you do not have a heart of benevolence.
Anyway, as I mentioned before, do not be disheartened, the seeds of change has been planted this round. The opposition will become stronger the next round, regardless of what the PAP does. My fellow Singaporean, donÂ’t blame the PAP for your hardship
The bus Fare went up because we greedy Singaporean bought their shares then demand high dividend pay out as such, they have to make record profit.
Blame ourselves for high cost of property as we mindlessly plunge into the property market for hope of high return in turn drive up the price.
All these are our own doing, so donÂ’t blame our dear PAP. THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THESE.

yes and no. i know of speculators and opportunistic upgraders who change flat every 5 years during the property boom period and profited in doing so. but this group is only the minority. most people buy a flat to stay and the price of new flat is controlled by none other than HDB. even the resale market is in some ways pegged to the new releases so indirectly the price is also influenced by HDB.
All these are our own doing, so donÂ’t blame our dear PAP. THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THESE.

Two things that bothered me this election
a) Frequent reminder of PAP's past record
b) The younger forumers were rude to an elder stateman like Lee
I dont see how PAP's past record is an indication of its future performance. SUre, it hass done well. Clap clap. So? Those were the days under LKY, and GCT. We dont know how the future will be if we were simply complacent and self assured under 'PAP's past record'. I am more for leaders who tell me they can manage change.
And they were saying the young journalists shouldnt be so assertive yada yada. Whose future is at stake now? Why shouldnt they try to bring their point forward? Has Lee Kuan Yew himself a good role model by being polite to people when he tries to bring his point forward?
