Like PM LHL stated: whether election or not, if someone has made defamatory remarks, i have to sue.
If you wait, the case becomes weaker.
So now the question begs: is this case from the elections dept unilateral? Or coerced by members within the cabinet?
This entire episode stinks of sour grapes. MM Lee is utterly despicable to claim that when he calls a person a liar and does not get sued, then something is wrong.
In the first place, you do NOT go around name-calling. You have an issue, you press charges, not use the media to initiate a hate campaign against one individual. Blatantly slandering a person like that is classic gangsterism, EXACTLY the type he himself pledged to STAMP OUT.
He thinks he has the right to influence the decisions around him by banging the tables? Pot calling the kettle black.
It's time for him to step down. We do not respect high-handed abuse of his political standing. So what if he has made SG what it is today?
His attitude and belligerence bellies an arrogance and blatant disregard for the law.

It's ED vs James Gomez.
Honestly, James Gomez should be more tactful with his speech and his manner of tone when he was addressing the ED.
He could have said, "I believe I had submitted the form but will you check again because it is an important issue and it may complicate certain issues. I appreciate your help."
And he could have done so with a smile.
I don't think ED could have easily got him fixed up if he smiled.
Of course, the conversation between the two party were unknown and his facial expression might have gotten him into big problem.
If the legal system finds JG guilty and places a harsh sentence on him, I believed that I would find it hard to accept.
Afterall, he apologized. It was not a mistake that is unrepairable. It is not like JG made detestable remarks about how the country was being run. It is not like JG made horrible speeches aimed at ED and the ruling party.
If ED had solid proof to testify JG was abusive and intimidating, I believe apologies are not sufficient, but if he was not, a light sentence would acceptable if he was found to have erred and no sentences should there be insufficient evidence.
Although I find his 'forgetfulness' unacceptable, I believe he should be given the right to walk scot free since I did not find his actions in the footages offensive. I doubt I would vote in his favour though in future elections though. -

Is he trying to mislead the public by lying or is it an honest mistake? Mah said that Edmund Lim can be subcontractor of HDB, but when Lim goes to HDB to request information and be the sub-contractor Mah asked HDB not to give him. So is Mah lying or is it honest mistake?
Can the police detain Mah and Yeo for lying to the nation? For those to accuse JG of crime, please explain

Yeah man! A leader must first subject himself to the toughest standards before he can expect his men to follow with a lower standard but within the standard's range. That's what makes a 'Leader'.
Since JG is being summoned for this case, to be fair, Mah BT must be summoned to explain why he roti prata with his words. Otherwise, no one will respect him in future. I think after that HDB incident during election days, I believe Mah BT has lost much credit with his words. What if the SDA member could really carry out the building of HDB flats in good quality and lower cost?! Wouldn't Mah deprive Singaporeans of this previledge?! Even if he cannot, it is good to be transparent to the public on the breakdown of our costs for our HDB falts, quality of material, sub contractor's names etc etc. -
It was a very impressive and inspirational concilliatory speech by PM LHL that was televised over CNA on Sunday morning, which made him "looked" finally a NATIONAL LEADER.
Can PM LHL be his 'own man' after the shocking actions taken towards James Gomez and Sylvia Lim that was broadcasted over the news network this Sunday evening ?
Can he rein in the knuckle-duster works that is the specialty of his father ?
After winning 66.6% of the votes, it seems that it is insufficient for the Son to have salvage any semblance of political ability compared to what GCT had achieved from the last election - (a result which PM LHL had declined to benchmarked his performance with).
Even after a win of 82 seats, the Workers' Party has gained strength and ignited the imagination of Singaporeans with credible support shown in an increase of votes moving towards its Secretary-General and the Opposition Parties.
These recent events require the Opposition Parties to be punctured, and the insignificant act of James Gomez has to be made an issue - as the persecution of CSJ and SDP will be beating a dead horse.
What did James Gomez actually do wrong ?
Was it his second mistake in repeating his errors of paperworks on Nomination Day in two consequetive elections ?
Or was it due to his follow-up actions in 'REMINDING' the Civil Servants at the Election Department of the consequences of their actions in not speaking the truth of the whereabouts of the "missing " certificates ?
Is this 'REMINDER' a threat that is the cause for his arrest ?
If the paperworks are so important, and so much effort has been made this time even to have Justice of the Peace to be present - for sworn statement to be made - why did the Election Department officials not taken the trouble to check that all the DIFFERENT SETS of nomination papers are correct and complete ?
If application or notification papers submitted - for school exams, or immigration, housing, marriage, birth and deaths - are diligently checked for completeness and correctness, why is this process not performed by the Officials in the Election Department ?
In this Computer Age, why is there such a heavy reliance on 'paper-work' for nominating an election candidate, and with the amount of 'paper-work' required across several processes that make the entire process like an obstacle course in a gymkhana show.
What did Sylvia Lim do wrong in this "James Gomez Affair" ?
From the CCTV footage shown over CNA, it merely showed Sylvia Lim accompanying James Gomez at the Election Office, and also showed her WALKING AWAY from the counter, leaving James Gomez alone - even at the critical moment when James 'supposedly' place a piece of document into his briefcase.
Why was Sylvia Lim called to Police HQ at Cantonment Road ?
If this is not political persecution by Third World politicians forming an illusionary First World Government, in a false First World Country - what else can it be ? -
What is the big deal over the James Gomez issue i have still failed to understand. he has apologised and realised his mistake on the form submission. so lets move on. we all make mistakes and have in the event called and threatened our town councils or government bodies all the time for failling to act on matters relating to services provided. i'm not ashamed to say that i have done it too. does this mean that all singaporeans should be charged too for having a go at a civil servant who fails on his/her duties?
what i dont agree with is MM Lee's high handedness and going around calling people liars. MM Lee is not god here. Its time he steps down and retires once and for all. -

to confirm or deny what Gomez said.G said when he submitted the form,
Lim was with him.The CCTV proved she was not.
Lim,as a lawyer and lectuer,sure know what are the implications
from her confirmation,if any, or from her denial,if any, of Gomez statement.
Gomez used her as witness that he did submit the form.
What are the reasonable conclusion that she ,so far,has
not denied that she did witness Gomez's submission.
