Most of the profiteering semicon fabs are owned and run by taiwanese companies.
And almost the whole world's PCs and laptops are designed and manufactured
in Taiwan.
Their economy influence is tremendous...

Btw, the annual GDP report for last year had TAIWAN as the lowest growth. First is, SG, followed by, Korea, followed by HK, followed by Japan, followed by Malaysia, then is Taiwan.

Li Ao was right saying Singaporeans are stupid.
Just look at the strong mandate given despite the strong turnout for the rally.
Taiwan's Number 1 family is in trouble recently due to the insider trading.
As there was a strong opposition party, the insider trading was uncovered.
The 1st family was given privilleges when Ah Bian was elected.
His son was given special treatment during his national service.
The daughter, a doctor was allowed to apply leave during the SARS period when medical staff is in shortage.
The son-in-law was promoted to be a HOD from a small fry doctor.
Singapore also have a Number 1 family.
Just like the durian case, it took a stupid self-destruction to open the NKF case up.
So, we should be praying for singapore instead. -

It seems weird that a wrongdoing by someone else is blamed on another person too, simply because of family linkage.
It's that son in law own business. He did insider trading, that's his own problem.
Something like this, I hardly think Mr Chen was involved. More like a private financial matter of that son in law. -
Well, sadly in politics, it works out to be this way. The son-in-law, using his father-in-laws position to posture his illicit dealings. The Father-in-law is the President whose popularity ratings have been taking a hit, then it becomes an issue.

I basically agree with the original poster.
Ever since Ah Bian came to power, everything is going downhill for Taiwan. Taiwan's economy is shrinking and unemployment rate is soaring. As a result, crime rate is also skyrocketing. Read here:
