I've always thought that Sylvia should have recited word by word, the pledge to the multitudes at Serangoon Stadium, instead of just getting everyone to recite it. It became quite a sham if u ask me, everyone was like what!? recite the pledge! Obviously no one saw the symbology behind it. The WP could have declared that everything that the party stands for was in that pledge, written in 1965 - the year of Singapore's conception. I'm pretty sure, it'll have done a lot to make up for that 6 per cent.Originally posted by Maurince:WP Slyvia : We the citizens of singapore

[b]She said: 'Let me ask you - do you think the ministers will listen more carefully to a PAP MP than to an opposition MP out to make trouble? No, I think they'll listen to me, a PAP backbencher. And this is what I've been experiencing. Every complaint that I raised to the Government has been addressed seriously. But in Parliament, what does the opposition do for you?'![]()

in today ST, she replied something on this...
I quote "It was in this context that i added that ministers would listen more carefully to a PAP MP accurately reflecting ground issues and suggesting practical solutions than to an opposition MP out to score political points...............the issue is effectiveness in solving people's problems and addressing their concerns ".. end quote
