Malaysia, A 1st World Standard Country by 2016?Originally posted by king108:Looking at all the member nations of Asean, I personally viewed Malaysia as the only country besides Vietnam, Thailand which has the most possible potential to achieve 1st world standard like Singapore within 10 years time.
I studied no much, but I think it can be done if politically and country development plans are carried out with good planning and control.
Malaysia have their own resources including land, water, gas and talented citizens which I see as no fully discovered and utilised. Once, their government realised these factors, I think they will overtake us in no time.
We should be helping member countries to face challenges ahead. Hence would like to hear your views, especially those malaysian forumers.

First one will be a hush but healthy move, you may no like it but it definitely will benefit to the development of malaysia.
Increase the toll free for foreign vehicles entering malaysia to RM100 instead of the current few ringgits.
Reason very simple.
Firstly, can generate more income for the central government for nation development.
Secondly, people will have to think twice whether they wanted to stay and spend in Malaysia while working elsewhere. (This group of people is no contributing to malaysia development, I will place the question of whether they love malaysia.)
Malaysia, must eliminate this group of so called "leeches" while welcome real talents to help them to grow faster.
Investing in other countries like Thailand also have the same issue of protecting Thais. That is definitely right. I will do the same to protect my people's interest first. Won't you?
If everyone around the government only say good things for the governor to hear, the governor will not improve. Must be like the Great Tang TaiZong and his good governance with the help of good officers who dared to speak the truth.
Wei Zheng was a historian and statesman in the early Tang Dynasty. He was well learned and upright, and dared to use blunt words to remonstrate with the emperor. He made many good suggestions to the emperor. So, he was held in great esteem in the imperial court. Even Emperor Taizong respected him.
Once the emperor asked him, How does an emperor behave so that he can understand the real situation and how does an emperor become muddle-headed?
Wei Zheng replied: Listen to both sides and you¡¯ll be enlightened; heed only one side and you¡¯ll be left in the dark. He then cited the two wise and able tribal leaders Yao and Shun as examples. He said that Yao and Shun were good at listening to opinions from all sides, especially those from the lower strata of society, so they could defeat their enemies and maintain their leadership. Wei Zheng then listed the second emperor of the Qin Dynasty and Emperor Wudi of Liang as well as Emperor Yangdi of Sui, and said that these rulers met their doom because they believed one-sided versions of events.
Emperor Taizong was satisfied with this answer. So Malaysia governor will needs many We Zheng.![]()

The West Msia may evolve to be of 1st world standards by then, but for the East Msia, more time is needed. The government is way too slow.

[b]Malaysia, A 1st World Standard Country by 2016?
This is a joke right?
One major problem for any real advancement toward any standard is the controversial affirmative action programme that gives special rights to the Malay community to "help them catch up with the other races".
The policy, in place since 1970, has been reaffirmed in the recently unveiled “Ninth Malaysia Plan”.
The policy had caused much resentment as it created a class of ultra-wealthy Malays instead of helping the majority.
No body dare to question (any issues related to this policy) as those who dare are threatened (to beheaded / to start a racial riots / to be kick out of the country). The Malay owns the land (Malaysia). The Malay Rights form the basis for wealth sharing among the races.
Put simply, before you think of doing anything (doing business, investment) in Malaysia, be prepared to forgone 30% of the capital (immediately) as well as 30% of whatever you may earn in future.
Since the Malays are so dependent on the handouts, they will never "catch up with the other races" - and expect the affirmation action policy to continue.
It is a joke to expect Malaysia to become a first world standard country so long it does not address the affirmative action policy, a race based policy, discrimination against other races, polarized school system, racial disintegration, brain-drain of the non-Malay, low tolerance against anything that are non Malay (Muslim) traditions.
