Just look at the group of 500 Muslims which forced an abrupt end to a forum organized in Penang last Sunday to discuss the rights of non-Muslims. The forum ran only for half an hour and the police had to declare that they could not guarantee the safety of the 200 participants, and that was the end of the forum.
This scenario will be played out all over again and again. This type of behaviour will lead to a first world country? What a joke? -

Looking at World Altas, the shape of Malaysia on the map will tell you. Malaysia is no fat
, but very long..
East side - South China Sea, Mostly white sand coastal line
West Side - Strait of Melaka. Mostly muddy coastal line and lot of "Hai Ca".
Industrials and Ports should be near if wanted to improve efficiency on timely handling. In business, time meant money. On time delivery meant reputation and reliablilities.
All the heavy industrial and export industrial should be shifted to the western side of Malaysia near their ports. All ports handling cargo should located along this side.
Why the west and no east..because "Hai Ca" meant lot of sea traffic along that strait. Lot of business along that stretch and having established ports and yards will encourage them to come ashore. This meant income.
Habital Area, I would placed them toward inland instead putting them near to the industrial. Heavy industrial can be polluted in some cases, hence putting residential area nearby can be life endangering. Hence should be avoided.
Hospitals, schools, public services and others that I don't see it should be around the residential area. Easier to maintain and guard if needed.
Resorts if near sea, should be placed on the East Side, where you have a lot of White Sand. Besides that the water should be deeper since it's facing South
China Sea. Only thing is no to pollute it so as to have more visitors.

As for the gas, metal, rubber, plum and other natural resources, I needed no to touch on. Just ensure proper usage will do.
Maintaining the mountain and the forest will be good for Malaysia, hence don't abuse natural unnecessary.

Building top building is not the definition of a 1st World Standard Country. Malaysia must "Fu Min Jiang Kuo" first instead of "Kuo Fu Min Jiang". When I say "Fu Min" is refering to all and no 2 or 3 only.
whether its 2016 or 2020, they have not been progressing much. it is too slow and certain decisions are hindered by internal politicking. -

falling behind? not this generation and the next and perhaps even never bcos the 2 countries are already way apart, in culture, in technologies, in society, in governance of the country and most importantly, in their people's mentality and attitude. even our exchange currency value is different...not to mention other matters.
malaysia has always been playing catching up (believe it or not) and this is not about being hao lian but as a matter of fact. copying is at its best (look at the shopping malls in KL, JB and other major cities in malaysia). high-rise flats/condo is equally copied to the fullest extend (eg. near to KL just before the last toll from the NSHW). -

Current arrangement is still the best although improvement can be done later. However, I would advise Malaysia no to waste their reserve on construction of nice but useless buildings. It's is the very last thing that any ruler must do before the country is considered healthy.

Malaysia I see is progressing despite being slow . They do take care of their non muslim citizens but just not as well as Singapore is. Several years back , I met a few malaysian scholars who are non muslim - their ambassador actually MAKES THE TIME TO see them get prizes in one of the group 8 Australian Universities for being in the top rank- ours did not even bother despite the major takers were Singaporeans - NOT EVEN A SINGLE OFFICIAL FROM SINGAPOREAN EMBASSY . Despite that , the malaysian representative told us singaporeans maybe our ambassador was busy but they are always proud to see Singaporeans do well too because we are all neighbours. They never said a single thing about how great Malaysia is ...they said we are happy you are doing well too . This impressed me alot more than a bunch of Singaporeans laughing arrogantly at our neighbour.
Singapore is stuck and outsourcing jobs to foreigners.
Which is worse? First world no progress or developing nation with a progressive move towards the right direction? Make fun of Malaysia if you must but I think malaysia is progressing very well and Singapore is stagnant . -
I started this thread in the good name that Malaysia can acheive and even perform better. However, they must relook at their development planning so that they wouldn't waste public money on unnecessary infrastructures.
I would even advise them to consider paying their civil servants handsomely so that they will be like us. Besides that, the home breeded talents will have to considered contributing to their nation development if they really love their nation.
Currently, I am seeing many short-slighted talents who left their country in search of better personal interest only.
Malaysia government will definitely wanted to think again whether they wanted to breed these group of talent whose wasted their effort for so many years. This will help to encourage those who loved their nation to give more when asked for. -
