Well I was treated that way too when I made a police report on my missing handphone. I won't elaborate on that. Anyway, they treated me like some small kid and took ages to get one freaking report done.
In any case, you can do what I did. Write a FORMAL letter of complaint to...to qoute myself as an example... I sent it to the NPC HEAD, the DIVISION HEAD and finally to the Commissioner of Police. Yeap. Thats what I did.
But if you dont want to lodge a complaint, then guess you can just forget abt it.

sad to hear your case. but it no point using strong words on the line where you dare not put it across the policeman face to face.
if you seriously think you have a point to say, you say it. of course you did be smart not to make any personal or organisation attacked remark. i think you did be fine.
i have encounter with a TP some years back when i was caught twice in a day for having a illegal install foglight. Yes twice in a day when i dont even have enough time to dismantle it. i talk aloud to the TP and state my point clearly and i keep talking for the next 10minutes. he finish issue the tickets but he has to stay and listen to me coz i say it rude for not explaining clearly what th reason for the ticket and why it was issue twice in day. in the end he say i can make a report to the TP or what dept when i received official ticket notice.
dont worry about police. police job are not just to check ID on children not going home after 12midnight, but main duty to main security, crime prevention and impt solve cases of crime that already happen. -

i disagree with the behavior of the police but i feel that your making a mountain up of a molehole.
This things happen, sometimes buyers/sellers don't turn up , just arrange again lor , will die meh
Police already so busy, u tink between a murder case and your case they will investigate your case ?
In the case mentioned , there is not even a crime , even if they wanted too, they can't investigate, charge the person with wat ? -

Most of them are just there to perform set routines, and wait for 5pm or 6pm go back to their girlfriends and life. -

I did not even have a case for them to investigate nor wanted to start one.
Do you happen to be a police? You opinions are exactly the same as the officer, which is that I wanted to write a police report against the seller to charge him or something. -

I agree with mhcampboy. Also it is best to look for a senior officers or best an investigating officers (IO). If I am not wrong, they have a dept specially for IT crime or... pranks? Probably the best way is contacting them through email or something then. I trust such officers are easy to get to directly? If U wan, u can write a FORMAL letter of complaint or feedback, just email to the correct person in charge & dept - provide more details of your 'case', which online website, the seller's details & content in the smses and so on.
Altenatively, if this seller is still posting fake deals/pranks. u can write to the webmaster of the website. As usual with details & 'evidence'. if serious they may ban his IP or warn him. -

So what are they suppose to do ? Arrest that bugger and make him sell you the stuff ?
What you mentioned is not against the law and certainly not a crime.
And the reason why you get an attitude from them is because you're wasting their time and you're not the only one doing so. -
Not sure why most of the forums member here have the same thinking as the police officer. Even when I stated in my original post that I have no intention to do so.

Express what? Meeting one bad apple dosent mean the whole lot is bad.
If you think something can be done to improve on this issue. Give feedback to the CORRECT organisation. Having a hissy fit here trying to gather anti police support is not the correct way. -

It's more of a working attitude problem with NS man, and I stated Singapore Police in the title is because most of the accessible ones are NS man.
Also, your replied what I wanted to find out when I go to the police station in the first place.
Who is the CORRECT organisation?
Is this a bad apple? Or are this due to NS man?

The difference between police and SAF or other forces is that, Police are the one who have the most contact with civilians.
Quoting from myself in my first post.They probably treated their jobs as conscript labour and took no pride or dedication in them. I find them pretty much unfit to be in direct contact with normal civilians.

In the above situation, there is no crime, only a possible breach of contract.
There is no crime present in the above situation unless the person misrepresents the item he is selling or his identity, then there is fraud present.
Adding on, about the case of the police officer saying that he does not provide such services.
In effect ,by your request , you are asking the police officer to "warn" ,in otherwords threaten the seller for you, the police officer was being civil when he told you that they do not provide this type of services, -
