Definitely, it's not a small matter for I can see as being accused of corrupted while you are doing a role of PM or MM. I think it’s just a different perspective if you want to use the word “suppress”. He didn’t suppressed the people, he only suppress the accuser.

Electioneering is a time where, you as a public figure, expect to get smeared and you fight back like a man, and engage that chap in public, not in a courtroom where the people cannot have access to what ever discussions or pre-suit settlements that is going on.
Politics is a game where public figures are public targets.If you cannot play, please step out, and if you are a good leader, you will have your own ammo at hand to counter those arguments.Don't tell me our leaders are that dumb?

There is no utopian state anywhere and our political leaders are a much better regarded than those from supposedly democratic nations like the Philippines.

Our Singapore leaders are supposed to be a cut from the First World Class of politicians - who are supposedly all leading Democracies.
Should they be compared with those from the First World ?
Is it odd that Singapore is only good when compared with the worst, yet Singaporeans are always pushed to match with the best but never compared with the very best ?

As you said Politics is a game where all players comes together to 'thrash' each other. However, make sure he thrash the fact correctly. He should have know the consequences of making a false claim in the first place. Imgaine if you are accused of stealing some company information, what approaches are you to adopt? Simplely just counter-argument with the accuser? of cos there may be many ways you can choose your strategy but I believe the best approach will be a way that can shut him and prevent he to mis-accused you again. -

Do we need to guess who was carrying the 120mm Motar Base Plate or the Barrel ?
Knowing that you will be constantly humiliated and psychologically fixed, will you not AWOL and stay away ?
During about the same period, and as a 'White Horse' - did LHL even get to carry the bipod for 120mm motar, let alone the barrel or its base plate ?
Tan Wah Piow was only a NUS Student Union Leader, with youthful enthusiasm to be socially active, to help the industrial workers to understand their Workers' Rights.
What was the crime that Tan Wah Piow committed to be fixed to such an extent ?
Incidentally, [b]Phey Yew Kok later absconded from Singapore Justice after he was discovered for corruption in the development of the Big Splash project at the East Coast Park.
Surprisingly, this Government spent more money and time to track and persecute Francis Seow than taking any interest in bringing Phey Yew Kok back to Singapore for justice to be executed.

Despite the high wages that existed, LKY insist on " upping the ante " - by increasing government remunerations to a ridiculous stellar level - in a poker game to challenge his ministers and civil servants to become corrupted.
With the power to legislate and change unfavorable laws, and the unlimited powers to appoint personalities to the Judiciary, the entire system is under the control of the POWER OF ONE.
Will any Singaporean be in any position to fight off any Political Charges based on False Accusation ? -

Has the POWER OF ONE ever put Chia Thye Poh on trial and given evidence to prove its allegation that he was a Communist ?
Has the POWER OF ONE ever charged the alleged Marxist Conspirators and placed evidence in a public trial to proved their allegation ?
Has the POWER OF ONE charged Tan Wah Piow to be a Communist agitator ?
Unfortunately the answer to all the above is NO.
Is it any surprise that for a Government that demands proof of evidence for allegation made against it, it will not impose the same standard on itself to give evidence to support its allegation towards others ?
Instead of any shred of evidence being produced, Chia Thye Poh and all the arrested alleged members of the Marxist Conspiracy were placed under constant intensive interrogation to coerce a confession that amounted to torture.
To the eternal credit of Chia Thye Poh, throughout his 23 years of incarceration, he did not succumb to the constant coersion and taunts of freedom in exchange for a false confession.
Unfortunately, for the alleged Marxist Conspirators - (who were nothing more then a bunch of young, amateur and enthusiastic social activists that dabbled at the edge of dirty politics) - they allowed themselves to a forced confession in exchange for a quick release.
However, their forced confession was used by the POWER OF ONE and its Ministers to mock their political amateurism, and with continued abusive taunts - the alleged Marxist Conspirators grouped together to make an open statement that their confession was forced as a result of the torture that they were subjected to while being held by the Internal Security Department.
The recantation of their confession caused them to be re-arrested, and subjected to further torments, and incarceration before being allowed to make a second forced confession prior to being released with restricted freedom.
The difference between evidence and forced confession is like fire and smoke.
The fire will burn like the truth, while the smoke does not reveal its origin but conceal the truth from ever being revealed.
