I thought someone here has said, they aren't the MPs so why should they be having MTP session?Originally posted by anhydrouscoppersulphate:what a cry baby. sore loser.. want to quit politics. compared to workers' party "I'll be back" spirit
you mean the 2 PAP folks, Eric loh and Sitoh? they are not MP, true, but if I not wrong, they are apoointed as town mayor of these 2 wards, hence the MTP sessions. (disclaimer, I might be wrong, this is just based on memory recollection, so someone please help me confirm this, thanks)Originally posted by sbst275:I thought someone here has said, they aren't the MPs so why should they be having MTP session?

With so many barriers of entry and so many obstacles created, MM Lee is indeed correct to say that any alternative party that can beat these odds will eventually displace the Ruling Party.Originally posted by Atobe:Is this not shameful or what, that the legally elected Members of Parliament for Hougang and Potong Pasir cannot be the Mayor of their respective wards ?

I think Eric Low and Sito better quit, dont waste time becouse from past experience, Mah Bow Tan, Ng Pock too, Heng Chee How, Andy Gan all tried 2 times yet they still lost to Chiam See Tong, so no point for Sito or Eric to continue unless PAP put them to a safe GRC under the heavyweight of a minister such as Tanjong Pagar or Marine Parade which is 100% winOriginally posted by BillyBong:Eric Low never had a character comparable to Low Thia Khiang.
How did he ever believe that he could wrest Hougang from the incumbent?
The only reason a higher percentage of votes swung in his favour at the 2001 elections was mainly because the residents bit the upgrading carrot. Fortunately, people now wise-up to the unscrupulous use of taxpayer's cash for ONE PARTY's benefit.
At best, his TV antics liken to that of a circus clown. At worse, he is a political opportunist.![]()

Def I dun like MBT 1st standing at Potong Pasir, lost and went to Tampines the next GEOriginally posted by Atobe:That explain for SDP and CSJ moving from Jurong (2001) to Sembawang (2006).
In 2001, SDP took 20.25% of the votes cast in Jurong GRC, and in 2006 it improved its performance with 23.3% votes cast for the Sembawang GRC.
Perhaps, Eric Low and Sitoh should appeal to the POWER OF ONE to allow them to move on, if they are highly valued by their Party.
Unfortunately, it will seem to be that these two candidates are NOT Ministerial material, and the POWER OF ONE is in NO HURRY to move them from these two constituencies.
They are mere cannon fodder, or to be used as bait to trap the two incumber from the Alternative Parties.
In anycase, CST will not last another two Election in Potong Pasir, and Sitoh may still have a chance within the next ten years - IF CST do not groom someone to take over Potong Pasir.
The Alternative Parties should start looking into Tanjong Pagar GRC, as LKY cannot possibly last another one or two more Election Campaign.
I think he lost partly because of LKY.Originally posted by sbst275:Def I dun like MBT 1st standing at Potong Pasir, lost and went to Tampines the next GE
By election, but looking at 1970 one of the record year for by - elections, 1/2 went uncontestedOriginally posted by Icemoon:I have a question. If CST *touch wood* what will happen to PP? A by-election like Anson last time?
If LKY *touch wood* then his GRC how? 1 less man?
Number '9' cert vs tertiary cert holderOriginally posted by Icemoon:I think he lost partly because of LKY.
LKY made people dulan when he criticized Chiam's academic results.
I'm not sure whether Mah Bow Tan eventually won a seat on his own or as part of a GRC. The fact that he lost to Chiam See Tong indicates a little 'black star' has been printed next to his name on the Ruling Party candidate list, compared to his other 'faultless ' peers standing in parliament who got 'elected' without hiccups.Originally posted by t_a_s:I think Eric Low and Sito better quit, dont waste time becouse from past experience, Mah Bow Tan, Ng Pock too, Heng Chee How, Andy Gan all tried 2 times yet they still lost to Chiam See Tong, so no point for Sito or Eric to continue unless PAP put them to a safe GRC under the heavyweight of a minister such as Tanjong Pagar or Marine Parade which is 100% win
